Cu6S4 Cluster Based Twelve-Connected Face-Centered Cubic and Cu19I4S12 Cluster Based Fourteen-Connected Body-Centered Cubic Topological Coordination Polymers

Zheng-Ming Hao; Rui‐Qin Fang; Hai-Shun Wu; Xian-Ming Zhang

Hydrothermal reaction of Cu(MeCO2)2, (4-pyridylthio)acetic acid and NH4SCN resulted in a twelve-connected face-centered cubic topological metal-organic framework [Cu3(pdt)2(CN)] (pdt = pyridinethiolate) in which Cu6S4 clusters act as twelve-connected nodes and pyridine rings and cyanides act as connectors. As an extension, an unprecedented fourteen-connected body-centered cubic coordination polymer [Cu19I4(pdt)12(SH)3] has been synthesized by three methods, in which nanosized chiral Cu19I4S12 clusters act as fourteen-connected nodes and triple pyridine rings and hydrosulfides act as connectors. The in situ S-C(sp(3)), S-C(sp(2)), and S-C(sp) cleavage reactions have been observed in the work.

New double-layered open metal–organic frameworks with nanosized channels encapsulated removable 2,5-bis(4-pyridyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole molecules

Xian‐Ming Zhang; Rui‐Qin Fang; Hai‐Shun Wu

The hydrothermal reaction of Co(MeCO2)2·4H2O, 2,5-bis(4-pyridyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole and 4-hydroxy-isophthalate (or isophthalate) resulted in two isostructural metal–organic frameworks and X-ray single-crystal structural analyses revealed that they have non-interpenetrated double-layered frameworks with 1-D nanosized channels encapsulated removable 2,5-bis(4-pyridyl)-1,3,4-thiadiazole and water molecules.

Bis(1,4-Diazoniabicyclo[2.2.2]octane) octamolybdate(VI) tetrahydrate

Rui‐Qin Fang; Xian‐Ming Zhang; Hai‐Shun Wu; Seik Weng Ng

The anionic entity in the title octamolybdate, (C6H14N2)2[Mo8O26]·4H2O, has a chain structure in which the [Mo8O26]4− units share terminal O atoms. The O atoms in the chain are two-, three- and four-coordinate. The anionic unit occupies a special position of \overline 1 site symmetry and the MoVI atoms are all octahedrally coordinated.

Rerefinement of poly[[tetra‐μ‐oxo‐dioxobis(1,10‐phenanthroline‐κ2N,N)dimolybdenum(VI)iron(II)]‐di‐μ‐oxo] in the centrosymmetric space group P21/m

Xian‐Ming Zhang; Rui‐Qin Fang; Seik Weng Ng

Polymeric [Fe2{MoO4}2(C12H8N2)2]n adopts a chain structure that propagates linearly along the b axis of the monoclinic unit cell. The (C12H8N2)Fe moiety lies on a mirror plane, as does the MoO4 moiety; two MoO4 anions link two (C12H8N2)Fe entities to form an eight-membered Fe—O—Mo—O—Fe—O—Mo—O— ring; the Fe atom is five-coordinate in a trigonal bipyramidal environment; the phenanthroline ligand spans the axial–equatorial sites.

catena-Poly[bis(4-pyridylthioacetato)zinc(II)]

Xian-Ming Zhang; Rui‐Qin Fang; Hai‐Shun Wu; Seik Weng Ng

The Zn atom in the polymeric [Zn(C7H6NO2S)2]n chain of the title compound lies on a twofold axis. It is covalently bonded to the carboxyl O atoms of two ligands and datively bonded to the pyridyl N atoms of two other ligands in a tetrahedral environment.
