This paper describes a new functional generation method for human motion with emotion. In the method, the empirical data of the human joint angles in some typical motions with emotions are utilized. Based on the frequency analysis, the data are then classified into two groups, the basic factor and the additional factor. The former factor corresponds to a basic motion like “walking”, whereas the latter means a descriptive part of the basic motion like “brisk” or “fast”. Then, apart from the analysed emprical motion, more complex human motions with emotions are generated by interpolation and/or extrapolation of these factors in the frequency-phase domain. The sequences of the short animations obtained will illustrate the power of the method.

This paper presents a human animation system with a path planning function. An animal moves towards its favorite things and flees from his enemies. These motions depend on instinct. This idea is applied to path planning by using ‘attractiveness’ to simulate these motions naturally. As examples the flight path of a butterfly, swiming pattern of a school of fish and human movements showing emotion are generated using the attractiveness.

A new flyback transformer has been developed with a secondary coil that is divided into several windings which are connected alternately in series with the same number of high-heat resistant, glass-molded diodes has been developed. This new design results in improved voltage enduring properties, facilitates transformer insulation and permits efficient high voltage regulation in dc voltage generation. Overall transformer size and weight are also reduced, which saves space in television receiver sets.

In this paper, new methods to decrease voltage surges and the turn-to-turn voltages of motors are considered. By connecting additional cables and resistances between the motor and inverter terminals, the magnitude of voltage surges at the motor terminals decreases by 27%. By increasing the capacitances between motor windings, the magnitude of turn-to- turn voltages decreases by 50%. As a product of these results, reliabilities of inverter drive systems and surge capabilities of the motors increase.

The voltage clamp phenomenon was investigated by measuring the dielectric characteristics of Ta/sub 2/O/sub 5//SrTiO/sub 3/ and SiO/sub 2//Ta/sub 2/O/sub 5/ multilayer films. These films consist of alternating high- and low-dielectric-constant layers. It was attempted to raise the between voltage of the multilayer films by lowering the resistivity of the insulating film with the low dielectric constant in a high electric field to a value near its breakdown strength. In this way, applied voltages higher than the breakdown field strength of the low-dielectric-constant film can be applied to the high-dielectric-constant insulating, and shared voltages of the former can be kept constant, as if in a voltage clamp, during any further applied voltage rise. The Ta/sub 2/O/sub 5//SrTiO/sub 3/ film was found to exhibit voltage clamp, resulting in higher breakdown strengths, but the SiO/sub 2//Ta/sub 2/O/sub 5/ film did not, and it was necessary to improve the deposition method used for the SiO/sub 2/ film. A self-healing breakdown characteristic was found to be necessary for the multilayer insulating film to attain higher breakdown strengths due to the voltage clamp phenomenon.<<ETX>>

A partial discharge detector has been developed. It has been designed to indicate the total charge of partial discharge per second on a chart recorder. It can easily detect an intermittent partial discharge in an electronic circuit of value greater than 1 pC. This partial discharge detector amplifies a discharge pulse component with a particular frequency by means of a resonance circuit and it is not susceptible to the effect of external noise, making it suitable for production quality control testing. The partial discharge detector has been used for an insulation reliability test of high voltage diodes, and, as a result, it has been determined that the lifetime of glass-molded high-voltage diodes is far more than 10 years.
