Intensification of Coagulation Purification of Highly Colored Waters

G. R. Bochkarev; P. V. Kurbatov; S. A. Kondrat'ev

The possibility of intensifying the purification of highly colored waters by aluminum hydroxychloride through optimization of coagulant-fluid mixing is confirmed theoretically and experimentally. It is proved that hydrodynamic conditions influence the purification efficiency in the pH range from 7 to 7.5. The advantage of hydraulic-type disperser over mechanical mixers is demonstrated. The value of energy dissipation is substantiated as a criterion of estimating the mixing intensity.

Selective Extraction of Hydrophobic Minerals in Froth Flotation

S. A. Kondrat'ev

The reasons are considered for the selective extraction of hydrophobic and hydrophobized particles from pulp by the flotation method. It is shown that for the particles under study, the formation of three-phase contact perimeter on the body surface and the flotation complex generation are governed by the possibility of breakthrough of thicker liquid films.

Possibilities of Thermodynamic Method for Flotation Analysis

S. A. Kondrat'ev

The thermodynamic method of analysis is considered as applied to the estimation of the possibility for forming the particle-bubble flotation complex. It is shown that the disturbance of internal equilibrium of the bubble-particle-fluid system is associated with the change in the value of contact angle and displacement of the contact perimeter of three aggregate states along the surface. The necessity is established for creating a kinetic model of elementary flotation act as the basis for construction of general theory.

Influence Exerted by Wave Motion of Liquid Surface on the Behavior of Floating Spherical Particles

G. R. Bochkarev; A. S. Izotov; S. A. Kondrat'ev

The results are presented for measuring the amplitude of standing capillary wave causing the flooding of floating metal balls. The equation of spherical-particle motion on the liquid surface is derived with regard for displacement of the three-phase contact perimeter. Calculated wave amplitude, at which a spherical particle separates from the gas - liquid interface, is satisfactorily consistent with the experimental data.
