This study presents findings from an analysis of the Turkish Science and Technology Curriculum Guidelines and their alignment to the university entrance examination. The analysis of the Science and Technology Curriculum focused on various related aspects: content areas and learning outcomes in terms of scientific process skills, science technology society and environment, attitudes and values, and cognitive objectives. The level determination examination (LDE) questions, which would allow for enrollment at elite high schools and would inevitably affect middle school students’ university choices, were analyzed in an alignment study regarding the contents of the science and technology program. In order to investigate the relationship between high school science teaching and high school entrance examination, all relevant documents were analyzed by ten science teachers, who have been teaching science and technology courses at middle schools and are concurrently doctoral students at the science education department. The results indicated that the LDE questions and standards were not fully aligned because the first two alignment criteria have a high consistency while a range of knowledge and balance of representation criteria have a low consistency.

Through the study performed it is aimed to determine the anxiety state of the postgraduate students regarding qualitative based researches and examine the change in their anxiety regarding qualitative researches in parallel with the training provided. In the study performed holistic single case study was used, which is one of the qualitative based research methods. 19 research assistants doing doctorate in educational sciences and teacher training basic field and who used qualitative based researches in their theses, participated in the study. The research data were collected through Likert type scale and open ended questions. It is understood that the anxiety state of the research assistants, who used qualitative based researches in their doctoral theses, are at lower and education provided regarding qualitative based researches decreased the anxiety states even more.

The aim of this study was to emerge science and technology teachers problems and misconceptions relate to “The Solar System and Beyond: Space Puzzle” Unit. Case study research method was used in this study. The sample of the study consisted of 10 science and technology teachers. Semi structured interview question and observation form were used in the data collection process. Semi structured interview conducted with 10 science and technology teachers. Observation study was done in 2 science and technology teachers’ class. These observations take 14 hours. At the end of the study; it was found that teachers faced problems to attract students’ attention to the unit. Also half of the teachers faced difficulty to answer students’ problems because of the insufficient content knowledge. Textbook including misconception relate to planet orbits can led to teachers’ misconceptions

Bu calismanin amaci; ilkogretim 7. sinif “Gunes Sistemi ve Otesi: Uzay Bilmecesi” unitesi kapsaminda 5E ogretim modeline uygun gelistirilen rehber materyallerin, ogrencilerin akademik basarilari uzerine olan etkisini incelemektir. Calismada yari deneysel arastirma yontemi kullanilmistir. Arastirmanin orneklem grubunu Trabzon Mimar Sinan Ilkogretim okulundan 72 ilkogretim 7. sinif ogrencisi olusturmustur. Basari testinin KR-20 guvenirlik katsayisi 0.86 olarak hesaplanmistir. Deney ve kontrol gruplarinin kendi iclerinde karsilastirilmalari bagimli t-testi, gruplar arasindaki karsilastirmalar bagimsiz t-testi kullanilarak yapilmistir. Rehber materyalin kalicilik uzerine olan etkisi basari testinin on-son -geciktirilmis test puanlarina uygulanan F testi (ANOVA) ile analiz edilmistir. Calisma sonucunda deney ve kontrol gruplarinin gostermis olduklari basarilar arasinda deney grubu lehine anlamli bir farkliligin oldugu (t(70)= 4,345; p<.05) tespit edilmistir
