Study on the Result Changes with the Size of the Variance in Taguchi Method and Factor Experimental

Sang-Bok Ree

Abstract Purpose: The purpose of this paper is to show whether the results are changed with respect to the variance of the data, by analysis of data obtained from the Taguchi expe rimental techniques and general experiment. Because which cannot be prove by mathematical Formula, through experimental examples will show. Methods: Taguchi experiments were carried out with paper Helicopter ex periment. Experimental Data are obtained by special designed Drop Test Equipment. While Experim ental value arbitrarily changed, we looked at how Significant control Factor of Taguchi Methods and Factor experiments are changed. This process cannot be expressed as a Mathematical formula, but showed as a numerical example. Results: Saw significant changes in the factors when data is outside a certain range of the experimental data. By Test of Equivalence Variance, Experiment data is verified re liability. To find the Control Factor, Taguchi Method is better than the general experiment. Conclusion: We know that a Significant Factor is changed with the range of Variance of Experiment Data. The value of this paper is verified change process with Numerical Data obtained Experiment.Key Words:Taguchi Method, Variance Range, Analysis of Variance(ANOVA), S N Ratio

Simon Soon-Hyoung Park; Justin JongSu Song; James Jung-Hoon Lee; Wookey Lee; Sang-Bok Ree

How to measure similarity or distance for multiple categorical data? It is an important step for Data Mining and Knowledge Management process to measure similarity or distance between objects appropriately. Measurements for continuous data have been well-defined and relatively easy to be calculated. However, the notion of similarity for categorical data is not simple, since categorical data usually is not simply translated into the numerical format, and they also have their own priority with structures and data distribution. In this paper, we propose a new measure for multiple categorical data sets using data distribution. Our new measure, MCSM (Multiple Categorical Similarity Measure), can solve conventional drawbacks of multiple categorical data sets successfully in which we prove the verification of our measure with mathematical proofs and experimentation. The experimental result shows that our measure is powerful for multiple categorical data sets with proper data distributions.

Analysis about Korean Enterprise through China Excellence Performance Model and Comparison with China Enterprise

Sang-Bok Ree; Yizhong Ma

Industry competition environment is not being meaning of internal and external distinction. This may be phenomenon of globalization progress. In this time, we wish to examine present level in our enterprise and also analyze cause relation between 7 category of China Excellence Performance model which is modified Malcolm Baldridge Model and compare with China enterprise by using the same questionnaire with China. It is right opportunity to obtain information by comparing China enterprise with the Korea. This questionnaire composition and contents used as it is questionnaire contents that enforce in 2007 in China CAQ. The survey on Korea enterprises’ is 509 by KSA in 2008, China is surveyed 1679 by CAQ in 2007. In Korea “leadership”, “strategy planning”, “customer and market”, “measurement, analysis and improvement”, “resources management” and “process management” stronger than China, but in China “performance results” is stronger than Korea.

A study on education quality using the Taguchi method

Sang-Bok Ree; Young H. Park; Hanjoo Yoo

This article introduces a case study using the Taguchi method to improve education quality. Developed by Taguchi Genichi, this method has its strength in finding the control factor that is robust against other nuisance factors. Finding the condition for such a control factor has an effect of reducing the dispersion of the results. Various forms of noise exist in university classrooms. Multiple factors such as the psychology of the students and the instructor can have an effect on education quality but are often neglected in current teaching standards. The Taguchi method, which has successfully been implemented in manufacturing, can also be applied in education settings to provide better lectures (of higher quality) to students (customers). Hence this article introduces a methodology to improve lecture quality by using the Taguchi method in education settings and discusses a case study for it. The study analyses the factors that affect lecture quality and distinguishes between the control factor that is controllable by the instructor and the nuisance factor that is not controllable but is important in terms of lecture quality. Then the experiment is conducted as guided by Taguchis experimental design, and after discussion of the results the optimal lecture method is suggested. The difficulty with the approach lies in defining and measuring lecture quality and conducting the experiment under settings with various factors. A suggestion regarding this difficulty is discussed. However, this difficulty still raises a question. The contribution of this article is the discussion of the possibility of implementing the Taguchi method – traditionally used in manufacturing – in university lectures, which can be considered a form of service provided to the students, and offering Taguchis optimum result as a solution to a practical problem.

Kyusik Kim; Sang-Bok Ree

ABSTRACT Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test and verify on the interrelationship among Service Quality, and Customer Satisfaction and Customer Loyalty in the Humidifier Goods industry. Especially, we study on the relative importance of each CS variables by distribution channel. Nowadays, most of manufacturing compa-nies are proceeding the product servitization, which is combined service contents with product characteristics in the field of manufacturing industries. Methods: We surveyed humidifier purchaser about the some of CS variables and analyzed it using SPSS 21.0 and AMOS 21.0 as a statistical analysis tool. We use the frequency analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, multi‐regression analysis and structural equation modeling analysis for our empirical study. Results: As the result of study, we find that Service Quality(SQ) influence Customer Satisfaction(CS) and CS influence Customer Loyalty(CL). Also, we verify that CS works mediate interaction on the effects between SQ and CL. And there are the significant relative effect of SQ to Customer Satisfaction in some of distribution channel. Conclusion: Finally, we make certain that the market size of the Humidifier goods industry will be increased rapidly. And the distribution channel is more important to medium and small-sized enterprise. So, we have to pay attention to the study on the distribution channel of the Humidifier goods industry. And then, we expect more researches and studies on Service Quality and Customer Satisfaction in the field of manufacturing industries.

Ma Yizhong; Yue Gang; Wang Li‐lin; Sang-Bok Ree

Six Sigma has been one of main quality improvement approaches since Motorola first invented Six Sigma in 1987. Many scholars and consult experts have discussed the critical success factors of implementing Six Sigma management, but most of them are based on related theories or qualitative analyses. In the paper, we first review critical success factor of Six Sigma status quo based on literature. Then we design the questionnaire and survey China manufacturing enterprises that have introduced Six Sigma management. And finally, we analyze the critical success factors of China manufacturing industry implementing Six Sigma management by using structural equation model and find that leadership and Six Sigma strategy, focus on market and customer, evaluation and motivation, selecting, managing and implementing Six Sigma projects are four critical success factors of China manufacturing enterprises implementing Six Sigma management. At the same time, the paper also presents the relationships between the critical su...

A Study of Lean DFSS through the Creative Value Design

Kang Koon Lee; Sang-Bok Ree; Young H. Park

Six Sigma uses DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology as the process of a solving problem. Enterprises already propelling Six Sigma successfully, such as Motorola, GE and consulting companies, also traditionally propose DMAIC methodology. But, from activating Six Sigma, enterprises and Six Sigma‐consulting companies propose Six Sigma methodology matching indirection part of office and R&D part. As an exmaple, DFSS (Design For Six Sigma) is part of R&D application in GE. This study investigates Six Sigma methodology corresponding to the Right Process of the kernel factor. Especially for the optimum design of R&D, the study revises the definition of DFSS and the general organization through Lean DFSS methodology research and analysis.
