The quality costs are a quality management tool to measure the continual improvement. It was made a bibliographical revision and discussion of present publications on the generic models of quality costs. It was observed that the most frequently used generic model, continues being traditional approach PAF (prevention, appraisal and failures). So, this model was established in a construction firm context as a quality management tool, pointing out the form in that the effective management of these can be reflected in the utilities and productivity of a construction firm. Also, is suggested that quality costs can be calculated and be recorded in a countable form, providing a parameter to decide on the benefits that its control brings. The objective of a quality costs system is to find the level of quality that minimizes total quality costs; this will give the security that the construction firm is working efficiently in relation to its processes and products.

Cable driven robots have been a widely researched topic in the last few years, this is due to the advantages that they present over conventional parallel robots. In this paper, all the areas of robotic design have been studied for a planar cable driven robot, with the objective of making it parametric, meaning that the design process and mathematical models used in this paper could be used to implement the suggested architecture to solve any specific need. Finally, using the parametric design approach, a prototype was developed and built in order to validate the design process, evaluate the robot’s precision, identify future works and improvements and foresee any trouble that was not considered during the design phase.

Nowadays a systematic approach in design process for construction projects is necessary, just as the development of tools to monitor ef? ciently the quality costs and to manage continuous improvement in this area. A methodology for measuring and monitoring quality costs in the design of construction projects (QCDPC) was proposed by the authors of this paper in previous literatures. QCDPC is based on the Process Cost Model (PCM), developed in the BS 6143 Part 1 and on the Project Design Methodology at the Polytechnic University of Cataluna. This paper describes five cases study using CCDPC method, through which quantifying the cost of a poor quality in the processes design was possible. At the same time, the cases study showed how viable and versatile the methodology was. The CCDPC proposal is in line with the concepts of Total Management Quality (TQM), the process approach and the continuous improvement ISO 9000 for management quality.
