AN UPPER BOUND ON THE NUMBER OF PARITY CHECKS FOR BURST ERROR DETECTION AND CORRECTION IN EUCLIDEAN CODES

Sapna Jain; Ki-Suk Lee

There are three standard weight functions on a linear code viz. Hamming weight, Lee weight, and Euclidean weight. Euclidean weight function is useful in connection with the lattice constructions (2) where the minimum norm of vectors in the lattice is related to the min- imum Euclidean weight of the code. In this paper, we obtain an upper bound over the number of parity check digits for Euclidean weight codes detecting and correcting burst errors.

(1, 2) Optimal codes over GF(5)

Bal Kishan Dass; Rosanna Iembo; Sapna Jain

Abstract In this paper, we examine the possibility of the existence of codes over GF(5) which are optimal in a specific sense viz. which are capable of correcting single errors in the first sub-block of length n 1 and bursts of length 2(fix) in the second sub-block of length n 2 , n=n 1+n 2 , and no others.

Ternary (1, 2) optimal linear codes

Biagio Buccimazza; Bal Kishan Dass; Sapna Jain

Abstract In this paper, we examine the possibility of the existence of codes over GF(3) which are optimal in a specific sense viz. which are capable to correct single errors in the first sub-block of length n1 and bursts of length 2(fix) in the second sub-block of length n2 , n = n1 + n2 , and no others.

Low-density close-closed loop burst error detecting codes

Bal Kishan Dass; Sapna Jain

In this paper, we study cyclic codes detecting a subclass of close-closed loop bursts viz. low-density close-closed loop bursts. A sub-class of CT close-closed loop bursts called CT low-density close-closed loop bursts is also studied.

Bound for solid burst error correction with Lee weight

Luigia Berardi; Sapna Jain; Bal Kishan Dass

Abstract In this paper, we obtain bound for codes correcting solid burst errors with Lee weight over Z q and show that this bound is same as the corresponding bound with Hamming weight over Z2 and Z3. We also obtain some special/particular cases of this bound. Finally, we obtain Lee weight bound for solid bursts with limited intensity.

High-density-burst error detection

Biagio Buccimazza; Bal Kishan Dass; Sapna Jain

Abstract In this paper, we study cyclic codes detecting a subclass of open-loop bursts namely High-density open-loop bursts. A subclass of CT open-loop bursts called CT high-density open-loop bursts is also studied. A comparative study of the results obtained in this paper with the earlier known results and among themselves has also been made.
