Featured researches published by Saumitra Sengupta.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1998

Iodoarenediazonium salts: A new class of aromatic substrates for differential palladium catalyzed reactions

Saumitra Sengupta; Subir Kumar Sadhukhan

Abstract By virtue of the superior reactivity of diazonium groups over the iodides in Pd-catalyzed rteactions, iodoarenediazonium salts have been investigated and established as a new class of substrates for differential Heck and cross coupling reactions.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1995

Aqueous Heck reaction of amino acid derived arenediazonium salts: Semisynthetic modification of phenylalanine and tyrosine

Saumitra Sengupta; Sanchita Bhattacharyya

Abstract Aqueous Heck reaction of arenediazonium salts derived from L-Phe and L-Tyr produced styryl amino acids in high yields.

Tetrahedron Letters | 2000

InCl3 catalyzed reactions of ethyl diazoacetate with aldimines: a highly diastereoselective synthesis of cis-aziridine carboxylates

Saumitra Sengupta; Somnath Mondal

InCl3 catalyzed reactions of ethyl diazoacetate with aldimines give aziridine carboxylates under mild conditions, low catalyst loading and with high cis-selectivity.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1999

InCl3: A new Lewis acid catalyst for reactions with α-diazocarbonyl compounds

Saumitra Sengupta; Somnath Mondal

Abstract The use of InCl 3 as a Lewis acid catalyst in diazocarbonyl SH insertion reactions, nitrile cyclizations and addition reactions to aldehydes and ketones is described.

Tetrahedron Letters | 1999

Amino acid derived morpholine amides for nucleophilic α-amino acylation reactions: A new synthetic route to enantiopure α-amino ketones

Saumitra Sengupta; Somnath Mondal; Debasis Das

Abstract Nucleophilic acylation reactions of amino acid derived morpholine amides with organolithium reagents provide a new, cost-effective synthesis of enantiopure α-amino ketones.

Tetrahedron | 1997

Probing the effect of gegenions in Heck reactions of arenediazonium salts: Arenediazonium perchlorates and fluorides as new Heck-substrates

Saumitra Sengupta; Subir Kumar Sadhukhan; Sanchita Bhattacharyya

Abstract A study on the gegenion effect in Heck reaction of arenediazonium salts has given rise to arenediazonium perchlorates and fluorides as alternate Heck-substrates to the tetrafluoroborate salts.

Tetrahedron-asymmetry | 1998

γ-Chiral β-ketosulfones in asymmetric synthesis: a unified synthetic strategy for enantiopure γ-amino and γ-hydroxy vinyl sulfones

Saumitra Sengupta; Debarati Sen Sarma; Somnath Mondal

Abstract Enantiopure γ-hydroxy and γ-amino vinyl sulfones have been prepared in a short synthetic sequence from the chiral pool derived γ-acetoxy/amino β-ketosulfones.

Synthetic Communications | 1995

Heck Reaction of 1-Aryltriazenes

S. Bhattacharya; S. Majee; R. Mukherjee; Saumitra Sengupta

Abstract 1-Aryl triazenes upon treatment with TFA or HBF4 undergo Heck reaction via in-situ generated aryldiazonium salts.

Tetrahedron Letters | 2003

A ferrocene dendrimer based on a cyclotriphosphazene core

Saumitra Sengupta

A ferrocene dendrimer based on a cyclotriphosphazene core was prepared via a sixfold substitution reaction of N3P3Cl6 with a diferrocenyl benzyl alcohol dendron. All twelve ferrocene units in the dendrimer were found to be electrochemically equivalent.

Tetrahedron Letters | 2002

A tetraphenylmethane based starburst triarylamine cluster: spectroscopy, electrochemistry and morphological studies

Saumitra Sengupta; Subir Kumar Sadhukhan; Sanjukta Muhuri

While tetraphenylmethane and triphenylamine are crystalline molecules, a starburst hybrid of the two leads to a low band-gap molecular glass which retains the optical and electrochemical properties of the individual components.
