Video shot boundary detection algorithm

Kyong-Cheol Ko; Young Min Cheon; Gye-Young Kim; Hyung Il Choi; Seong-Yoon Shin; Yang-Won Rhee

We present a newly developed algorithm for automatically segmenting videos into basic shot units. A basic shot unit can be understood as an unbroken sequence of frames taken from one camera. At first we calculate the frame difference by using the local histogram comparison, and then we dynamically scale the frame difference by Log-formula to compress and enhance the frame difference. Finally we detect the shot boundaries by the newly proposed shot boundary detection algorithm which it is more robust to camera or object motion, and many flashlight events. The proposed algorithms are tested on the various video types and experimental results show that the proposed algorithm are effective and reliably detects shot boundaries.

Comparison of Common Methods from Intertwined Application in Image Processing

Seong-Yoon Shin; Hyun Chang Lee; Yang-Won Rhee

Image processing operations like smoothing and edge detection, and many more are very widely used in areas like Computer Vision. We classify the image processing domain as seven branches-image acquirement and output, image coding and compression, image enhancement and restoration, image transformation, image segmentation, image description, and image recognition and description. We implemented algorithms of gaussian smoothing, laplace sharpening, image contrast effect, image black and white effect, image fog effect, image bright and dark effect, image median filter, and canny edge detection. Such experimental results show the figures respectively.

A Scene Change Detection Scheme Using Local x^2-Test on Telematics

Seong-Yoon Shin; Sheng Guo-Rui; Ki-Hong Park

This paper presents a method that allows for detection of all rapid and gradual scene changes. The method features a combination of the current color histogram and the local chi-test. For the purpose of this paper, the chi-test scheme outperforming existing histogram-based algorithms was transformed, and a local chi-test in which weights were applied in accordance with the degree of brightness was used to increase detection efficiency in the segmentation of color values. This method allows for analysis and segmentation of complex time-varying images in the most general and standardized manner possible. Experiments were performed to compare the proposed local chi-test method with the current chi-test method

Seong-Yoon Shin; Yang-Won Rhee; Dai-Hyun Jang; Sangwon Lee; Hyun-Chang Lee; Chan Yong Jin

In choosing a car, we consider car performance, design, price, and safety as the most important things without reference to accident occurrence probability. We first studied on the concepts of advancing color and receding color as well as relationships with car accidents. Consequently, advancing color causes less accidents since the color looks closer than it actually is. And receding color causes more accidents since the color looks farther than it actually is. And we classified car colors into seven ones such as black, white, blue, green, silver, red, and yellow. Each representative color includes its detailed colors corresponding to its domain. We also proposed accident occurrence probabilities ordered by each color. The descending order is blue, green, white, red, black, silver, and yellow. The rate of relationship with 74.64 % is high than that of disrelationship with 25.36 %.

Creation of soccer video highlight using the caption information

Oh-Hyung Kang; Seong-Yoon Shin

A digital video is usually very long and would require large storage capacity. Users may want to watch pre-summarized video before they watch a large long video. Especially in the field of sports video, they want to watch a highlight video. Consequently, highlight video is used that the viewers decide whether it is valuable for them to watch the video or not. This paper proposes how to create soccer video highlight using the structural features of the caption such as temporal and spatial features. Caption frame intervals and caption key frames are extracted by using those structural features. And then, highlight video is created by using scene relocation, logical indexing and highlight creation rule. Finally, retrieval and browsing of highlight and video segment is performed by selecting item on browser.

Vitalization of E-Marketplace to Strengthen Trade Between Korea and China in Electronic Commerce

Sangwon Lee; Hyun-Chang Lee; Chan Yong Jin; Seong-Yoon Shin

A concept, Electronic Commerce, began its existence as computerization and information communication technologies improve rapidly all over the world. Since many business transactions are performed on the Internet, rapid transactions could be performed with no time and space limitations. Electronic commerce among enterprises could make purchasing cost low, make stock management efficient, and make logistics system efficient. First of all, we check three concepts of electronic commerce, mobile commerce, and electronic marketplace. The goal of our research is to understand characteristics of small and medium sized enterprises and problems of e-marketplace, to refer to successful cases of e-marketplace, and to propose solutions to make efficient Korea–China Business-to-Business Trade.

A Study on Boundary Detection Method for Separation of Coastal Seahorse Community Obtained by Drones

Kwang-Seong Shin; Seong-Yoon Shin

Drones are becoming more commonly used for geological aerial photography. This study used pixel-based image processing in order to distinguish seaweed colonies in a salt marsh on the west coast of South Korea after photographing them with a drone. Also, in order to improve performance prior to detecting the edges, binarization is performed as a preprocessing step, and the edge detection result varies depending on how the threshold value is determined, Generally, differentiation-based methods are widely used for edge detection and convolution mask methods for edge detection proposed by Sobel, Prewitt, Roberts, etc. for effectively implementing the concept of differentiation. To clearly separate specific colonies in a video of west coast mudflat recorded by using a drone, this study compared the relationship between threshold values decided during the binarization process and convolution mask techniques for edge detection.

A Study on Ring Marketing Strategy Digital Contents suitable for a class of Young Customer at Online Environment - focusing on marketing service strategies

Hyun-Chang Lee; Seong-Yoon Shin

With the rapid growth of IT technology and development of online shopping, e-commerce activity through online environment is going to grow in various forms. And then the intense competition also more deepen in the companies within the online market. The study on the various contents production and environment configuration for sale strategies has been made. Among online market products, it is needed to develop marketing strategies for online sales related to rings products. In this paper, through the analysis of online content and components of companies, it has obtained the appropriate components in the ring industry. In particular, aiming to young customers, we looked about components suitable for them and built site. As a result based on the above analysis, we anticipate that it will be able to see forward to a competitive ring marketing.

Hyun-chang Lee; Chan-Yong Jin; Seong-Yoon Shin

With the development of economy, peoples self-interest about ones appearance has been increasing. Among them, especially interest of fashion in womens clothing market is increasing very. By increasing interest of womens appearance, requirements of various womens fashion marketing ways are increasing and the womens fashion market is expanding as much as it is. Therefore, in this paper, we propose the strategies for marketing activation in womens fashion after consideration of general womens fashion marketing strategies. Also, we build a web site to implement the strategies. Through the activation of the marketing strategies, marketing in a womens fashion market is expected to be competitive.

Marketing and Inventory Managements in Smart Phone Environment

Seong-Yoon Shin; Hyun-Chang Lee; Sangwon Lee; Chan Yong Jin; Chen-Lin Xu

The smartphone technology has brought enormous changes into enterprise management and government operation. The environment of business has also changed. In order to meet increasingly fierce competition, the businesses could collect more effective information and respond flexibly to various changes. In addition, the enterprise management is in more urgent need of smart office than ever. Therefore, in this chapter, we examine the market of smartphone so as to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of company affairs, keep up with the development of information technology, and realize sustainable development, especially the flexible use of the basic mobile device smartphone. After studying on concepts of ERP and smart phone, we perform an experiment by use of m_Bizmaker to realize applications on ERP.
