Immobilized heterobimetallic Ru/Co nanoparticle-catalyzed Pauson–Khand-type reactions in the presence of pyridylmethyl formate

Kang Hyun Park; Seung Uk Son; Young Keun Chung

Heterobimetallic Ru/Co nanoparticles, immobilized on charcoal, were synthesized and used as catalysts in the Pauson-Khand-type reaction in the presence of pyridylmethyl formate instead of carbon monoxide; the catalysts were effective for intra- and intermolecular reactions and easily reused without loss of catalytic activity.

Tetrahedron-asymmetry | 2003

Synthesis of novel planar chiral ferrocene and cyclopentadienyl manganese tricarbonyl derivatives and their use as chiral ligands in the palladium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic alkylation

Jae Hoon Lee; Seung Uk Son; Young Keun Chung

We have shown that cymantrene derivatives are better P,N-chelate ligands for palladium-catalyzed allylic alkylation than ferrocenes, which have a similar pentagonal ligand structure to cymantrene derivatives. In particular, the PPh 3 -substituted cymantrene gave a higher enantioselectivity (>98%).

Tetrahedron Letters | 2003

Pauson-Khand reactions catalyzed by entrapped rhodium complexes

Kang Hyun Park; Seung Uk Son; Young Keun Chung

Abstract An entrapped Rh complex prepared by a sol–gel process has been used as a catalyst in the Pauson–Khand reaction under mild reaction conditions; the catalyst is easily recovered and reused at least 10 times without losing catalyst activity.

Tetrahedron Letters | 2003

Co/C-catalyzed tandem carbocyclization reaction of 1,6-diynes

Sang Ick Lee; Seung Uk Son; Mi Ra Choi; Young Keun Chung; Sueg-Geun Lee

Cobalt on charcoal (Co/C) can be used as a catalyst in the tandem carbocycloaddition reaction of 1,6-diyne and carbon monoxide. The reaction product is dependent upon the reaction temperature, the position of the functional group, and the substrate itself.

Chemical Communications | 2001

Colloidal cobalt nanoparticles: a highly active and reusable Pauson–Khand catalyst

Sang-Wook Kim; Seung Uk Son; Su Seong Lee; Taeghwan Hyeon; Young Keun Chung

A new Pauson-Khand catalyst based on colloidal cobalt nanoparticles has been developed; the catalyst is highly effective for many intra- and inter-molecular Pauson-Khand reactions and can be recycled and reused many times without losing catalytic activity.

Chemical Communications | 2005

Synthesis of monodisperse chromium nanoparticles from the thermolysis of a Fischer carbene complex

Seung Uk Son; Youngjin Jang; Ki Youl Yoon; Changhua An; Yosun Hwang; Je-Geun Park; Han-Jin Noh; Jae-Young Kim; Jae-Hoon Park; Taeghwan Hyeon

We successfully synthesized monodisperse chromium nanoparticles from the thermolysis of a Fischer carbene complex.

Chemical Communications | 2003

Unusual flexibility of 2,5-bis(4-pyridylethynyl)thiophene self-assembled with Co(NCS)2 in a novel coordination polymer

Seung Uk Son; Bo Yun Kim; Cheol Ho Choi; Soon W. Lee; Yong Seung Kim; Young Keun Chung

A novel coordination polymer containing Co(NCS)2 and a rigid ligand, 2,5-bis(4-pyridylethynyl)-thiophene showing unusual flexibility was synthesized.

Chemical Communications | 2001

Synthesis of planar chiral tricarbonylcyclopentadienylmanganese complexes using a Mn(CO)3+ transfer reaction

Seung Uk Son; Kang Hyun Park; Seung Jung Lee; Young Keun Chung; Dwight A. Sweigart

Planar chiral ligand transfer reactions can be carried out by nthe reaction of [(naphthalene)Mn(CO)3]BF4 with planar nchiral ferrocene derivatives.

Chemical Communications | 2002

Synthesis of planar chiral (1,3-disubstituted arene)Mn(CO)3+ cations via addition of nucleophiles to (oxocyclohexadienyl)Mn(CO)3 in the presence of chiral ligands

Seung Uk Son; Kang Hyun Park; Seung Jung Lee; Hwimin Seo; Young Keun Chung

The first example of the synthesis of planar chiral (1,3-disubstituted arene)Mn(CO)3+ cations (3) has been demonstrated by a reaction of (p-cresol)Mn(CO)3+ with KOBut followed by addition of nucleophiles and subsequent quenching with electrophiles in the presence of (S)-binaphthol in CH2Cl2.
