Abstract Two steroidal alkaloids and an androstane derivative have been isolated from the bark of H. pubescens and their structures elucidated through exhaustive 1D and 2D NMR studies (COSY-45, NOESY, J -resolved, HMQC).

Three compounds, pubadysone [11 alpha-hydroxy-18,20-oxido-3-oxo-pregna-1,4,17(20)-triene] (1), puboestrene [3-acetoxy-17-oxo-1,3,5(10)-estratriene] (2) and pubamide [3,18-dioxo-11 alpha-hydroxycona-1,4-diene] (3), have been isolated from the bark of Holarrhena pubescens. Their structures have been established through spectroscopic studies.

Abstract Three new alkaloids, namely, 4,6-dien-3-oxo- N -demethylconanine (pubescine), 1,4-dien-3-oxo- N -demethylconanine (norholadiene) and 3-dimethylamino-5-en-12α-hydroxyconanine (pubescimine), have been isolated from the bark of Holarrhena pubescens and their structures elucidated through exhaustive ID and 2D NMR (COSY-45, NOESY, J -resolved and HMQC).

Abstract From the bulbs of Polianthes tuberosa Linn., a novel steroidal saponin has been isolated. The molecular structure has been elucidated by extensive spectroscopic means and chemical reactions. The compounds has been identified as 2β,3β,16β,22β tetrahydroxycholesta-5-ene 16-O-β-D-apiofuranoside.
