Crystallinity and Photocatalytic Activity of TiO2 Films Deposited by Reactive Sputtering Using Various Magnetic Field Strengths

Pung Keun Song; Yukiko Irie; Shingo Ohno; Yasushi Sato; Yuzo Shigesato

TiO2 films were deposited by r.f. reactive magnetron sputtering on nonalkali glass without substrate heating using a 3-inch- magnetron cathode with various magnetic field strengths (MFS, 150–1000 G) and shapes (balanced or unbalanced) at a total gas pressure of 1.0 or 3.0 Pa. The crystallinity and photocatalytic activity of TiO2 films showed a clear tendency to decrease with the decrease in MFS during the deposition. Decrease in plasma impedance by increasing the MFS was confirmed to be effective in the deposition of high-performance photocatalytic TiO2 films by magnetron sputtering.

68.2: Color and Flexible Electronic Paper Display using QR-LPD® Technology

Ryo Sakurai; Shingo Ohno; Shinichi Kita; Yoshitomo Masuda; Reiji Hattori

We have developed a color and flexible electronic paper display using electronic liquid powder. Novel types of color display either colored powder or color filter are discussed. We have also developed a flexible display with low cost substrate films with a high throughput roll-to-roll manufacturing system. These technologies enable QR-LPD® to be used widely as an electronic paper display.

We have developed a thin and flexible smart card with EPD Electronic Paper Display using QR-LPD™ Quick-Response Liquid Powder Display technology. The extremely low energy consumption display applications can be realized by utilizing the image holding property with no energy consumption. In this study, we combined flexible EPD with wireless energy and data transfer system in order to realize extremely thin, light weight and flexible smart card that has dot matrix EPD. The possibility of wireless smart card with flexible EPD using QR-LPD technology is discussed.

P-165: Novel type of Flexible and Full Color Electronic Paper Displays Using Quick-Response Liquid Powder Technology

Masayuki Nishii; Ryo Sakurai; Kanji Tanaka; Shingo Ohno; Shinya Tsuchida; Yoshitomo Masuda; Itsuo Tanuma; Reiji Hattori

Using electronic liquid powder™ technology, the paper displays with both functions of flexibility and full color have been developed employing two structures. One has a conventional structure with color filters made with photolithographic process and the other has a “top color filter” structure with color filter prepared by flexography printing method. These displays have almost the same image quality with a thin thickness and a good flexibility.

Color displays and flexible displays using quick-response liquid-powder technology for electronic paper

Ryo Sakurai; Shingo Ohno; Shin Ichi Kita; Yoshitomo Masuda; Reiji Hattori

Abstract— Color displays and flexible displays that use electronic liquid powder have been developed. Novel types of color displays using either a colored powder or a color filter are discussed. We have also developed a flexible display with low-cost substrate films with a high-throughput roll-to-roll manufacturing method. These technologies enable a QR-LPD to be widely used as an electronic-paper display.
