Influence of surface treatment of calcium metaphosphate ceramic was analyzed in detail to achieve high adhesion in an aqueous environment with N-(vinylbenzyl)iminodiacetic acid as a novel dental adhesive monomer. The adhesion strength was enhanced greatly by alkali etching of the ceramic surface, although the adhesion profile varied with etching conditions. Scanning electron microscopy, electron probe microanalysis, and roughness evaluation indicated that high adhesion was closely associated with the formation of fine irregularity on the surface that was rich in Ca. N-(Vinylbenzyl)iminodiacetic acid was thus confirmed to be a suitable adhesive monomer for the ceramic in dentistry in terms of strength and durability when the ceramic surface was properly etched.

[Inhibitory effects of 1-hydroxethane-1, 1-bisphosphonate (HEBP) and hexametaphosphate on early calculus formation].

生体内で石灰化抑制作用を示すことで知られている1-Hydroxyethane-1, 1-Bisphosphonate (HEBP) とヘキサメタリン酸 (HMP) の含嗽により, プラーク中へのミネラルの沈着が抑制されるか否かを調べた。被験者には, 全身的に健常と考えられた成人45名を選んだ。この45名をラテン方格法に基き, 3群に分け, 1%HEBP, 1.2%ヘキサメタリン酸, 及び, 対照溶液を, 1日3回, 2週間含嗽させた。被験者の下顎臼歯頬側面に可撤式のメタルフレーム装置を装着させ, その上に貼付したポリエステルフィルム上に形成されたプラーク中のCa, P, アミノ態窒素量を測定した。その結果, 総Ca量は, HEBP含嗽群, HMP含嗽群ともに, 対照群に較べて低値を示し, また, P量に関しても, 同様な傾向を示した。一方, N量に関しては, 三者間に, 有意の差はなかった。また, Ca/N比は, HEBP, HMP各群ともに, 低下する傾向を示した。以上により, HEBP, HMPは, プラーク中へのミネラル沈着を抑制し, プラークの石灰化が進行する過程を抑制し得る可能性が示された。
