Cabotagem como alternativa para o transporte de carnes da região Sul para o Norte/Nordeste brasileiro: um estudo de caso

The transportation costs are one of the main factors for companies’ competitiveness. In order to decrease the costs, companies are frequently searching for different ways to transport their products to their consumers. This paper analyzes the economic viability of meat transport from the South to the North and Northeast of Brazil, using intercoastal port services. Using a transport cost optimization model and linear programming, our results indicate the economic feasibility of this option.

TAXA DE POBREZA E POPULAÇÃO RURAL NO BRASIL: ANÁLISE ESPACIAL DOS PERÍODOS 2000 E 2010

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the spatial distribution of rural poverty in brazilian municipalities and the relationship between rural population and poverty rate in 2000 and 2010. For this, the work utilizes the Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis to identify the bivariate morans I coefficient, the scatter plot, the significance map and ultimately the cluster map of the municipalities variables. The data were collected in the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) through the censuses of 2000 and 2010. It was found that between 2000 and 2010 there was a small increase in the positive spatial correlation between the percentage of rural population and poverty rate to brazilian municipalities. The conclusion of this paper is that the cities in which they concentrate a large rural population continue to show a high rate of poverty, confirming the hypothesis that the rural population has difficulty benefit from policies for combating poverty because of poor access to this information and the physical distance. On the other hand, there are indications that the National Family Farming Strengthening Program (PRONAF) emerges as a policy that can contribute to minimize its effects, even if slowly reduce rural poverty.

A ARRECADAÇÃO DO IPTU, NO ESTADO DO PARANÁ, NO PERÍODO DE 1997 A 2011: UM OLHAR SOB OS IMPACTOS DA LEI DE RESPONSABILIDADE FISCAL

Brazil is coming up as one of the countries with the highest tax burden in the world. Such taxation is necessary to meet the costs of services characteristics of the State that are demanded by society. However, the taxes which are the competence of municipalities have not shown significant impacts on city budget revenues. Thus, the objective of this study is to analysis the behavior of the collection per capita Tax revenues relating to Art. 156, I of the Constitution, the (TPTU), in the state of Parana, in the period 1997-2011 with the impacts of the Fiscal Responsibility Law (FRL). The spatial distribution of the collection of municipal taxes is determined through the use of techniques of Exploratory Spatial Data Analysis (ESDA) – Index Moran Local and Global – to verify spatial autocorrelation between the municipalities of Parana and confirm the existence of spatial cluster. The results shown that in the two periods, there was concentration of municipalities belong to the mesoregion Metropolitan of Curitiba in the clustering pattern high-high. However, with the advent of the LRF middle the mesoregion Metropolitan of Curitiba has not shown to be more efficient in the collection Tax Property Territorial Urban (TPTU) per capita in the period 2005-2011 compared to 1997-2004.
