ABSTRACT The essential oil of Sideritis romana L. was investigated for the first time. It shows a typical composition due to the significant presence of limonene (11.8%) and carvacrol (20.1%).

Origanum confertum Savi and O. fortuitum Savi are typified on herbarium specimens kept in PI. These taxa are identifiable, as heterotypic synonyms, with O. majorana L. and O. ×paniculatum W.D.J.Koch, respectively.

Rosmarinus officinalis L. in the Gravine of Palagianello (Taranto, South Italy)

Abstract The essential oils obtained from the flowering tops of Rosmarinus officinalis L. collected in two different stations with different microclimatic conditions are compared. Some significant differences were observed in the qualitative and quantitative compositions, mainly for α-pinene (8.9–15.4%), camphor (1.4–14.7%) and borneol (2.0–6.8%). The 1,8-cineole content remained stable at 53.7–58.6%.
