MULTI CAMERA AUTOMATIC VIDEO EDITING

Stanislav Sumec

Current technology makes possible to record various events of a human live, such as meetings simultaneously with several video cameras. Large amount of data is obtained from the each recorded event. However, a problem with presentation of such data in a suitable way occurs. This paper describes an algorithm that can be used in a compact videos generation from several source video streams according to different aspects and requirements.

This paper describes the video summarization system built for the TRECVID 2007 evaluation by the Brno team. Motivations for the system design and its overall structure are described followed by more detailed description of the critical parts of the system, which are feature extraction and clustering of frames (shots, sub-shots) in time domain. Many ideas were not included in the system because of the time constraints. Those considered promising are stated and are briefly described as possible future work. The result of video summarization presented in this paper is promising and will benefit further investigation. This is specifically true as not all the features that can be considered and processing methods were implemented in the evaluated system.

Operating parameters of luminaires for phytotron

Michal Krbal; Petr Baxant; Jan Skoda; Stanislav Sumec

The parameters of luminaires for the phytotron and growth chambers have some characteristics different from conventional luminaires. Example could be the different requirements for spectral distribution, thermal management and requirements for irradiation of plants. This paper deals with the complex description of these requirements on luminaires and they properties, supported by its own laboratory measurements.

Software tool for verification of sampled values transmitted via IEC 61850-9-2 protocol

Stanislav Sumec

Nowadays is increasingly used process bus for communication of equipments in substations. In addition to signaling various statuses of device using GOOSE messages it is possible to transmit measured values, which can be used for diagnostic of system or other advanced functions. Transmission of such values via Ethernet is well defined in protocol IEC 61850-9-2. Paper introduces a tool designed for verification of sampled values generated by various devices using this protocol.

Laboratory high voltage capacitor with low PD level and low dissipation factor

Michal Krbal; Jan Skoda; Stanislav Sumec; Jaroslav Stepanek

High voltage capacitors are widely used in middle and high voltage laboratories and testing rooms. Capacitors are used for measurement of voltage in the form of voltage dividers. Injection and blocking capacitors are placed in the galvanic systems of partial discharges. And high voltage capacitors are also used in the high voltage as the part of laboratory bridge circuits. Common characteristics of these capacitors are the stability of parameters in time and voltage, low value of PD level. And usage as the capacitor with low value of dissipation factor (tan delta) for bridges. This paper is focused on the description of the parameters of these capacitors, their implementation and the function verification.

Contrast analysis in lighting technology

Petr Baxant; Stanislav Sumec; Jan Skoda

The paper describes a new approach to the analysis of lighting systems, namely the lighting environment in general, with focus on luminance contrast mapping. Using the modern measuring equipment based on luminance analyzer units it is possible to transmit the obtained data from luminance maps to contrast maps. The current methods of determining contrast are too simple and can be applied only to a limited group of tasks. This paper gives not only the reasons but also suggests a new view of the methodology of evaluating with respect to the physiology of the visual system. This article thus opens a new wave of possible development in the field of light measurement that outperforms the current methods, which do not reflect the technical progress in the field of lighting, and therefore their further use is questionable owing to the exhausted potential.

Development of negative sequence relay model processing IEC 61850-9-2 sampled values

Tomas Bajanek; Stanislav Sumec

This paper focuses on development of negative sequence relay model that is processing IEC 61850-9-2 Sampled Values. The detection of negative sequence current and fast, reliable operation of protection relay is useful for power system components. This paper describes negative sequence relay model programmed in LabView that was tested with software tools developed at Brno University of Technology. Results from testing were compared with the real protection relay ABB REM 543 and also with theoretical computed values.

Software tools for processing of sampled values transmitted via IEC 61850-9-2 protocol in LabView

Tomas Bajanek; Stanislav Sumec

Sampled Values transferred via process bus according to IEC 61850 are used for protection functions in substation. Nowadays a lot of researchers are dealing with their processing and using them for protection algorithms. There are some software tools that could be used for their processing. This paper is focused on package of software tools developed at Brno University of Technology and they allow also to use Sampled Values in LabView development environment. The paper describes possibilities for complex testing of developed algorithms in LabView.

Influence of background luminance on UGR result

Jan Skoda; Stanislav Sumec; Petr Baxant; Martin Motycka

The article describes UGR measurement with luminance analyzer and discusses overall impact of background luminance on the calculation result. Background luminance, defined as 2π, causes a problem if the luminance is on the periphery of the visual field. Another complication is that the position index is defined only for the upper half of the view. This causes a complication in glare measurements of luminaires in the lower part of the view. The article attempts to summarize possible variations in luminance analyzer measurements.

Use of photometry in the field of high voltage

Michal Krbal; Jan Skoda; Jaroslav Stepanek; Stanislav Sumec; Petr Baxant

Laboratory testing of high voltage tested objects often leads to creation of discharges. Discharges are generated by breakdowns or flashovers outer insulation of the tested objects. These discharges generate emission in the IR, UV and also in the spectrum of light. The spectrum and intensity of radiation is dependent on the duration and level of passing current discharge. The shape, density and the spectrum of the discharge are also to some extent affected by the chemical composition of the gas surroundings, the electrode materials and the atmospheric pressure. The parameters of discharges are usually in HV laboratories specified by the measured time course of voltage and current passing through the discharge. An alternative is using of the analytical tools of lighting laboratory. Timing can be determined by using a fast photodiode. The chemical composition of the gas atmosphere and the electrode material affect the measured spectrum of light and UV. The average measured brightness value is dependent on the passing current of discharge and ambient gas pressure. The content of the article is focused on the application of some instruments from the filed of photometry to the high voltage measurement. This opens up new possibilities for the combination of these two disciplines and finding new possibilities of application.
