It makes a big difference whether start-stop systems are integrated into the development process right from the beginning of a new vehicle project or the systems have to be adapted as an add-on function within an existing vehicle architecture. Today, the add-on principle dominates which results in significant compromises. It is all the more important that the suppliers of the mechanical components, the magnetic sensor system and the electronic control units and/or software collaborate closely during the development and manufacturing process.
