Summon Koul; T.K. Razdan; C.S. Andotra; Ashok K. Kalla; S. Koul; Subhash C. Taneja; K.L. Dhar

Three new triterpenoids, designated as koelpinin-A, B and C and characterised as 28-nor-lup-12,17-dien-3 beta,16 alpha-diol,3 beta-acetoxy-28-nor-lup-12,17-dien-16 alpha-ol and 28-nor-lup-12,17-dien-3 beta-ol-16-one, respectively, together with 30-nor-lup-3 beta-ol-20-one, taraxeryl acetate and germanicol, were isolated, from the aerial parts of Koelpinia linearis. 13C-NMR shifts were assigned after performing APT and DEPT experiments.

Unusual homologous long-chain alkanoic acid esters of lupeol from Koelpinia linearis

T.K. Razdan; P.K. Kachroo; M.A. Qurishi; Ashok K. Kalla; E.S. Waight

Abstract An unusual series of five long-chain alkanoic acid (C 14 C 18 ) esters of lupeol was isolated from the methanol extract of koelpinia linearis and characterized by chemical and spectroscopic methods, including 13 C NMR. The spectral assignments were achieved by APT and DEPT techniques.

Further triterpenoids and 13C NMR spectra of oleanane derivatives from Phytolacca acinosa

S. Harkar; T.K. Razdan; E.S. Waight

Abstract In addition to five known triterpenoids, namely acinosolic acid, phytolaccagenin, phytolaccagenic acid, esculentic acid and jaligonic acid, three new oleanane derivatives, designated as phytolaccagenin A, acinosolic acid A and acinosolic acid B, have been isolated and characterized from the defatted berries of Phytolacca acinosa. The new compounds have been identified as 3β-acetoxy-3β-methyloleanate-12-en-2β,23α-diol-28β-oic acid, 3β-acetoxy-28β-methyloleanate-12-en-2β-ol-30β-oic acid and 2β-acetoxy-28β-methyloleanate-12-en-3β-ol-30β-oic acid, respectively.
