Clerodane diterpenoids of Salvia lineata

Baldomero Esquivel; Jorge Cárdenas; T.P. Ramamoorthy; Lydia Rodríguez-Hahn

Abstract The aerial parts of Salvia lineata afforded, in addition to sitosterol, oleanolic acid and flavonoids of known structures, three clerodane derivatives related to salviarin and gensnerofolin B. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical means.

Phytochemistry | 1995

Abietane and icetexane diterpenoids from the roots of Salvia aspera

Baldomero Esquivel; Margarita Flores; Simón Hernández-Ortega; R.A. Toscano; T.P. Ramamoorthy

From the roots of Salvia aspera, two new icetexane diterpenoids (salviasperanol and 5,6-dihidro-6α-hydroxysalviasperanol) and one new abietane derivative (6-epi-demethylesquirolin D) were isolated in addition to the previously known diterpenoids sugiol, taxodione and demethylsalvicanol. The structures of the new compounds were established by spectroscopic means. An X-ray analysis was performed on salviasperanol.

Further ent-clerodane diterpenoids from Salvia melissodora

Baldomero Esquivel; Luis Manuel Hernández; Jorge Cárdenas; T.P. Ramamoorthy; Lydia Rodríguez-Hahn

Abstract From the aerial parts of Salvia melissodora , ten ent -clerodane diterpenoids were isolated. One of the compounds had been isolated previously from another population of the same plant. However, seven of the compounds constitute new natural products. The structures of these compounds were established by spectroscopic and chemicals means. Oleanolic acid and sitosterol were also found in this species.

Phytochemistry | 1988

Abietane diterpenoids from Salvia pubescens

Miguel Angel Galicia; Baldomero Esquivel; Ana-Adela Sánchez; Jorge Cárdenas; T.P. Ramamoorthy; Lydia Rodríguez-Hahn

Abstract From the aerial parts of Salvia pubescens , two new abietane diterpenoids were isolated and their structures established by spectroscopic means. The known 7α-acetoxy-royleanone, conacytone, nemorone and desacetylnemorone were also isolated.

Phytochemistry | 1986

Semiatrin, a neo-clerodane diterpenoid from Salvia semiatratha

Baldomero Esquivel; M. Hernández; T.P. Ramamoorthy; Jorge Cárdenas; Lydia Rodríguez-Hahn

Abstract From the aerial part of Salvia semiatratha , a known diterpenoid and a new neo-clerodane diterpenoid, semiatrin, were isolated. The structure of the new diterpenoid was established mainly by spectroscopic means.

Phytochemistry | 1989

Abietane type diterpenoids from Salvia fruticulosa. A revision of the structure of fruticulin B

Lydia Rodríguez-Hahn; Baldomero Esquivel; Cristina Sánchez; Luis Estebanes; Jorge Cárdenas; Manuel Soriano-García; Rubén A. Toscano; T.P. Ramamoorthy

Abstract The structures of fruticulin A and its free phenol derivative, highly oxidized diterpene quinones isolated from Salvia fruticulosa, were determined by spectroscopic methods, chemical transformations and X-ray crystallographic analysis of one of them. The structure of fruticulin B is revised to a linear arrangement as a result of an X-ray diffraction analysis.

Phytochemistry | 1989

Abietane diterpenoids of Salvia anastomosans

Cristina Sánchez; Jorge Cárdenas; Lydia Rodríguez-Hahn; T.P. Ramamoorthy

Abstract The aerial parts of Salvia anastomosans afforded, in addition to oleanolic and ursolic acids, three abietane diterpenoids: conacytone and icetexone, of known structures, and anastomosine, a new 9(10→20)-abeo-abietane diterpenoid whose structure was elucidated by spectroscopic and chemical means.

Phytochemistry | 1988

Clerodane-type diterpenoids from Salvia sousae

Baldomero Esquivel; Javier Ochoa; Jorge Ca´rdenas; T.P. Ramamoorthy; Lydia Rodri´guez-Hahn

Abstract The aerial parts of Salvia sousae afforded, in addition of two flavones of known structure, two new clerodane derivatives related to linearifoline and languiduline. The structures were elucidated by spectroscopic means.

Phytochemistry | 1995

Clerodane diterpenoids from Salvia urolepis

Ana Adela Sanchez; Baldomero Esquivel; T.P. Ramamoorthy; Lydia Rodríguez-Hahn

Abstract From the aerial parts of Salvia urolepis , three new neoclerodane diterpenoids were isolated. Their structures were determined by spectroscopic means. The known languidulane diterpenoid 2 α -hydroxy-7- epi -8 β , 17-dihydro-languiduline was also obtained.

Phytochemistry | 1991

Clerodane and seco-clerodane diterpenoids from Salvia reptans

Baldomero Esquivel; Obdulia Esquivel; Jorge Cárdenas; Ana Adela Sanchez; T.P. Ramamoorthy; Rubén A. Toscano; Lydia Rodríguez-Hahn

Abstract β-Sitosterol, oleanolic and ursolic acids, the flavone diosmetin and two novel diterpenoids: 1α,2α-epoxy-3,4α-dihydrolinearolactone and salvireptanolide, a 5,6- seco -clerodane with an aromatic ring, were isolated from Salvia reptans . The structures of the new substances were established by spectroscopic means and an X-ray analysis performed on 1α,2α-epoxy-3,4α-dihydrolinearolactone.
