Tetrachlorosilane-Zinc Chloride as a New Potent Binary Reagent for One-Pot, Three-Component Synthesis of Mannich-Type Products

Doria S. Badawy; Ebrahim Abdel-Galil; E. M. Kandeel; Wahid M. Basyouni; Tamer K. Khatab

A combination of tetrachlorosilane and zinc chloride in dichloromethane as an efficient and ambient binary reagent to promote a one-pot amidoalkylation reaction of enolizable ketones, aromatic aldehydes with acetonitriles, or benzonitrile have been developed. The newly synthesized β-acetamidoketones 3 and β-benzamidoketones 5 were obtained in good yields.

V2O5/SiO2 as a Heterogeneous Catalyst in the Synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes Under Solvent Free Condition

Tamer K. Khatab; A. M. Abdelghany; Hanan A. Soliman

The heterogeneous catalyst of V2O5/SiO2 was prepared and characterized with Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and scanning electron microscopy. XRD of the silicon dioxide used reveals the amorphous nature while the spectrum of the prepared catalyst shows sharp intense peaks at about (20.2, 26.1, 31.0 and 47.3∘) and less intense sharp peaks at about (51.1, 55.2, 57.1 and 60.4∘) indicating formation of a crystalline phase with orthorhombic geometry. The FTIR spectra of the catalyst showed characteristic vibration stretching bands of V ∖O at their specified position. An efficient and facile approach for the synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes through a catalytic one pot reaction. Indole and aromatic aldehydes were stirred in the presence of a catalytic amount of the prepared and characterized heterogeneous catalyst V2O5/SiO2 at 50∘C under solvent free condition. This procedure has advantages in competition with the previously reported methods, in terms of high yield, green catalyst, mild reaction condition, simple procedure, lack of toxicity, low cost, and simplicity of workup.

New Approach for Tetrachlorosilane Promoted One-Pot, Condensation Reaction for Tetrahydrobenzo[a]Xanthene-11-Ones with Docking Validation as Aurora Kinase Inhibitor

Hanan A. Soliman; Tamer K. Khatab

An efficient synthesis is reported for tetrahydrobenzo[a]xanthene-11-ones through a one-pot catalytic reaction by mixing β-naphthol, demidone and aromatic aldehydes in the presence of a catalytic amount of tetrachlorosilane (TCS) in methylene chloride as solvent at ambient temperature compared with other catalysts derived from silicon. Aurora kinase inhibitors have attracted a great deal of interest as a new class of antimitotic agents and so the molecular docking study was carried out on the synthesized compounds compared with pentacyclic AKI-001 to discover a novel class of Aurora inhibitors based on a tetracyclic xanthene scaffold and understand the orientation and the interaction of each molecule inside the active site of the Aurora A enzyme.

Evaluation of the Optical and Structural Properties of Constructed Bis-indole Derivatives Using (Sm2O3/SiO2) Catalyst

Tamer K. Khatab; A. M. Abdelghany; N. Shaker; Yasmen Osama; E. M. Kandil

Abstract(SiO2/Sm2O3) was successfully synthesized and examined using scanning electron microscopy; X-ray diffraction and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. Obtained data shows the formation of crystalline phase superimposed over the silicate amorphous matrix. The synthesized catalyst was used for eco-friendly synthesis of bis-indole derivatives. Two moles of indole and different aromatic aldehyde were mixed and heterocyclic aldehydes have been adopted in-expensive, recyclable, easily prepared and nontoxic catalyst (SiO2/Sm2O3) under solvent free conditions. The chemical structures of the synthesized compounds have been introduced and correlated with UV/vis. optical absorption spectra in combination with (HOMO-LUMO) through experimental spectrophotometric data in both direct-indirect transitions and that obtained based of density functional theory (DFT).
