This study aimed at evaluating the internal structure of Family Health Units in relation to the access of people with physical and/or sensory disabilities. It is a descriptive, exploratory, population-based research, held in Family Health Units of the municipality of João Pessoa, Paraíba, Brazil. For the collection of data, a checklist based on Technical Standard 9050 was used. For the analysis, the descriptive and exploratory analysis of the data and the Chi-square test were applied. As a result, of the 90 buildings evaluated, only 47.8% have a wheelchair ramp, of these 30.0% have maximum slope and 32.2% have anti-slip flooring. In 28.9% access happens through a staircase without handrail and in 6.7% through a staircase with handrail, 6.7% of these with anti-slip flooring. And only 17.8% of sliding doors have lowered tracks. We concluded that it must be recognized that public policies and institutions do not correspond to the need of these people, and it is necessary to reformulate this form of care and reorganize health services.

ABSTRACT Introduction: stroke represents a serious public health problem, causing several disabilities. During the process of rehabilitation, family members and health professionals should encourage behaviors that promote resilience. Objectives: to analyze the main data about stroke and resilience available in national and international literature, and to verify if this component is being assessed/worked during the post-stroke process of rehabilitation of the individuals. Method: Portal of Journals of CAPES, BVS, SciELO and BDENF were used as databases, and the descriptors were ‘stroke’ and ‘psychological resilience’, in Portuguese and English. 42 articles were identified, from 2003 until 2015. After inclusion and exclusion criteria, a sample of 7 studies was obtained. Results: there was some difficulty in integrating the data, since articles about resilience with the aforementioned individuals are scarce. Most of the studies addressed other Psychology themes, which are also considered indispensable for the success of rehabilitation. Conclusion: the necessity for more studies regarding the topic resilience in individuals with stroke effects was noticed.

Objective: to correlate the resilience and functional capacity of the elderly people with diabetes mellitus. Methods: this is an exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional study, conducted with 96 elderly patients hospitalized for complications of diabetes mellitus in a university hospital. Data collection was performed through an interview, using a semi-structured instrument called the Resilience Scale and the Barthel Index. Results: most of the elderly people had moderate resilience (57.3%) and functional dependence (85.4%), with a mild (30.2%) and moderate (26.0%) prevalence. A positive correlation was observed with statistical significance between resilience and functional capacity, so the increase of one variable is correlated with the elevation of the other. Conclusion: when correlating resilience with the functional capacity of the elderly person, a positive and proportional relationship was observed between these variables highlighting the functional capacity as an important instrument for the development of resilience in the elderly person with diabetes.
