Results are presented of an analysis of proton and charged pion azimuthal distributions measured with respect to the reaction plane in Au + Au collisions at a beam momentum of about 11A GeV/c. The azimuthal anisotropy is studied as a function of particle rapidity and transverse momentum for different centralities of the collisions. The triple differential (in rapidity, transverse momentum, and azimuthal angle) distributions are reconstructed. A comparison of the results with a previous analysis of charged-particle and transverse energy flow as well as with model predictions are presented. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}

We present proton and pion tranverse momentum spectra and rapidity distributions for Au+Au collisions at 10.8A GeV/c. The proton spectra exhibit collective transverse flow effects. Evidence of the influence of the Coulomb interaction from the fireball is found in the pion transverse momentum spectra. The data are compared with the predictions of the RQMD event generator.

The energy dependence of the total cross section for the mutual inelastic scattering reaction /sup 12/C + /sup 12/C ..-->.. /sup 12/C(2/sub 1//sup +/) + /sup 12/C(2/sub 1//sup +/) has been measured from E/sub c. m./(/sup 12/C) = 15 to 45 MeV. A rotationlike sequence of resonances is observed with strengths up to 17% of the unitarity limit and widths approaching the /sup 12/C + /sup 12/C single-particle width.

Two-particle correlation functions for positive and negative pions have been measured in Au+Au collisions at 10.8GeV/{ital c} per nucleon. The data were analyzed using one- and three-dimensional correlation functions. From the results of the three-dimensional fit the phase space density of pions was calculated. It is consistent with local thermal equilibrium. {copyright} {ital 1997} {ital The American Physical Society}

We present results of a search for strange quark matter (strangelets) in 11.5 A GeV/c Au+Pb collisions from the 1994 and 1995 runs of experiment E864 at Brookhavens AGS. We observe no strangelet candidates and set a 90% confidence level upper limit of approximately 3x10**-8 per 10% central interaction for the production of |Z|=1 and |Z|=2 strangelets over a large mass range and with metastable lifetimes of about 50 ns or more. These results place constraints primarily on quark-gluon plasma based production models for strangelets.

Light nuclei can be produced in the central reaction zone via coalescence in relativistic heavy ion collisions. E864 at BNL has measured the production of ten light nuclei with nuclear number of A=1 to A=7 at rapidity
