This study approaches several aspects of literature that shape the present thinking in the Brazilians imaginaries about the Karate-Dō identity, history and philosophy. The objective of this research is to produce a meta-analysis of the spread literature approaching is different styles. This study is justified by the fact of we consider that a distortion of Karate-Dō history was diffused in Brazil, by the media, oral tradition and preconception between some Karate-Dō styles practitioners. The reflections presented here seek contribute with information for another versions construction about this practice in Brazil.

Este artigo trata da recomposicao identitaria pela qual passou o Club Canottieri Ducca degli Abruzzi durante o periodo do Estado Novo (1937-1945) ocorrido no Brasil. O Club Canottieri foi fundado por imigrantes italianos e seus descendentes, no ano de 1908 em Porto Alegre. Alem do remo, este clube fomentava outras praticas e representacoes culturais que o reconheciam com identidade cultural italiana. Porem, quando o Brasil aderiu a Segunda Guerra Mundial (1939-1945), o clube renegociou sua identidade ao assumir representacoes identitarias brasileiras. Como ocorreu o processo de nacionalizacao do “Clube de Remo dos Italianos” em Porto Alegre no periodo demarcado entre final da decada de 1930 e meados dos anos de 1940? Para responder a esta questao, foram coletados indicios sobre o clube em fontes impressas, como jornais, revistas, almanaques, dentre outras, e produzidas fontes orais. O Canottieri nao marcou sua historia apenas como um dos clubes de remo de Porto Alegre, mas sim como o primeiro clube esportivo com representacao italiana. Este clube resistiu ao seu processo de abrasileiramento e buscou a manutencao de sua identidade cultural de origem.

The founding of the Young Men Christian Association (YMCA) at the beginning of the 20th century in Porto Alegre, and their encouragement to the sport, represent a stimulus to the development of the sports in the State capital of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. With the introduction of the YMCA , sports and customs of the inhabitants of Porto Alegre found a fertile space of dissemination in society. This historical study seeks to outline the contributions of the YMCA in the propagation of sports in Porto Alegre, in the first decades of the 20 th century. This study was made possible primarily through the following sources: newspapers, magazines, sports almanac and commemorative book of the YMCA of Porto Alegre. The representation of the YMCA in Porto Alegre was the body cultural promoter through various sports practices, while gatherings agent was among groups, clubs and individuals through the organization of sport events.

This study records Willy Seewalds athletic trajectory, which was an eminent athlete on regional and national sports scenery and also participated of the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, on throwing javelin event. The study was made by consulting printed sources like journals, magazines and personal documents, and oral sources recorded through interviews with the athletes family. Willys trajectory shows us that to be considered a gentleman, a good sport practitioner, in Brazil the requirement differs from Europes.This study records Willy Seewald’s athletic trajectory, which was an eminent athlete on regional and national sports scenery and also participated of the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris, on throwing javelin event. The study was made by consulting printed sources like journals, magazines and personal documents, and oral sources recorded through interviews with the athlete’s family.
