Diana Rocío Sánchez Martínez; Tirso Javier Hernández Gracia; Enrique Martínez Muñoz; Alejandra Corichi García

The purpose of this chapter is to analyze the impact of coordination in the supply chain and its connection in the formation of smart cities. More specifically, it aims to investigate the index of coordination, its connection to smart cities, and the characteristics of the supply chain in analyzed companies. The results show that smart cities have different implications for the supply chain and its management is concerned, because these chains have become more complex, costly, and vulnerable to companies. Integration is key for this process; since all decisions must be aligned in order to achieve global objectives, every member depends on each other and must be able to effectively manage multiple resources. In evaluated companies, the categories of the model used were found: (1) Top management commitment and (2) mutual understanding in a supply chain have a low score which suggests that it may be related to problems in delivery times, inventory levels, and forecast management based on demand.

Organizational performance is a key concern for stakeholders in both the profit and non-profit sectors. However, more attention has been focused on profit-making organizations with little emphasis on performance of community-based organizations (CBOs) and other Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) especially those located in sub-Saharan Africa. Theoretically, scholars in management discipline indicate that the internal environment of an organization influences its performance. Thus, performance is dependent on the internal structures and systems existing within an organization. This paper examines the impact of the internal organizational environment on performance of community-based HIV and AIDS organizations in Nairobi County, Kenya. The authors empirically assess the predicted relationship using survey data from 163 Community Based HIV and AIDS Organizations, in Nairobi County, Kenya. The study findings indicate that the internal environment of an organization has an impact on an organization’s effectiveness, efficiency, relevance and financial viability with impacts on the efficiency and relevance performance indicators. This study has important implications for managers of CBOs on the relevance of developing sustainable internal systems and structures within their organizations to enhance performance.

The purpose of this article is to examine the effects of internal and external knowledge on innovation and also how innovation influences the profitability of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs). The research is focused on a sample of 412 companies from the industrial and services sectors of the southern region of the State of Sonora, Mexico. Data collection was carried out from June to October 2014, with the support of a selfdirected survey of company managers. For the analysis of the model and validation of the structured relationships, the structural equation method (SEM) based on the variance has been used through the use of the PLS technique (Partial Least Square) with support of the software SmartPLS version 3.2.6 Professional. The results show that both internal and external knowledge have a positive and significant influence on the innovation in products and processes that is developed in SMEs. In addition, product innovation has a significant and positive impact on the profitability of companies. In contrast, a significant but negative relationship was found between process innovation and the profitability of SMEs. It is important that owners and managers continue to capture and use knowledge in order to improve innovation. In addition, it is advisable to implement plans and actions to improve product and process innovation to raise the level of profitability. This work contributes mainly to the development of the literature on absorption capacity (CA) and the theory of resources and capabilities (R&C).

Cancer in general in Albania is an increasing problem and cervical cancer is the third most common gynecologic cancer among all women. Refer to European Code Against cancer an important action for women to help to prevent cervical cancer is to take part in organised cancer screening programmes. The study aims to identify in women health beliefs about cervical cancer. This is a transversal and analytical study with a sample of 210 healthy women from Vlora city with different socio-economic and educational levels. A selfadministered questionnaire that assesses the health beliefs components about cervical cancer was the data collection instrument. The results highlighted low risk perception relative to cervical cancer. Most of women believe that cervical cancer as dangerous as all the other cancers and uncertainties about the chances to recover from it exist among them. Misunderstandings and high sensitivity relate to cervical screening. Relationship between perceived benefits, emotional, economic barriers and Pap test uptake was found. Large numbers of women never screened. The results indicated that to improve the womens attitudes to health, to encourage adherence to cervical screening and to avoid misconceptions due to lack of information conversations with health operators and the designing of effective prevention strategies based on health beliefs are fundamental.

Two the mining companies, two the properties, two the related factories: the Di Marzo and the SocietaAnonimaIndustrieMinerarie (SAIM); two the families, of noble origins, who contributed to the mid-1800s to radical changes in the Valley, including through a direct and personal relationship with social initiatives in favour of the working society. The phenomenon began a new era of development resulting in significant transformations in the social-economic structures and in the organization of the inhabitants. Along with tanning pole, sulphur mines soon became the flagship reality of entrepreneurship irpina, attracting the interest of other businessman and banking groups. The thriving mining went on until the early 1970 s when the international competition and of the oil companies made cheaper sulfur extraction for other routes. At present the Administration and municipalities concerned intended to start an enhancement of industrial archaeology, preparing a feasibility study for the use of such mines by large sections of the people. It is an immense historical, cultural, industrial and natural and anthropological heritage, that should not be lost; therefore the project of a geomining park of the sulphur mines of Tufo and AltavillaIrpina(Italy) can offer to local populations another opportunity for development. Pending its establishment, the production of DOCG wines with the presence of the Greco di Tufo, a white wine produced in the municipalities of the province of Avellino, including Tufo and AltavillaIrpina, continues to enhance the Irpinia territory.
