Problems on average electrical impedance are tackled for human body, when taking into account reflection influences of conducting medium in vicinity of human body. A cylindrical model of human body was proposed to analyze electrical properties of tissues and organs, which have certain information facilitating to determination of healthy state of human body. Function relationship was discussed between human body dimension and dimension of exposure system. Resistance and capacitance, as the result of simulation, reduce with ratio of human body dimension to that of transverse electromagnetic cell(TEM).

Spark discharge can be described with Townsend theory or streamer discharge theory. Short-gap electrostatic discharge(ESD) is a special electric spark and related largely to gas pressure variation. Transition characteristics of two subprocesses, surface process and avalanche process, are considered in short gap ESD. Simulation results from numerical algorithm verified primarily theoretical description of electrode moving speed effect on discharge parameter in short gap ESD. Electrode large speed reduces the influence from avalanche process while enhances the action of surface process in the entire process of electrostatic discharge.

Controller Area Network (CAN) bus design in automobile need to take into account aspects on electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for components, PCB, and system. With filter and connecting approaches considerations are presented in the work for protection of CAN bus system in automotive from electromagnetic interference.

In the June issue of the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Magazine, a very interesting paper devoted to different kinds of polarizations may be found [1]. The basics of linear and circular polarization have been described. I would like to mark here the importance of polarization in absorbed electro magnetic power estimation, and a role that may be played by this factor in the accuracy of biomedical experiments that is not negotiable. This is one of the reasons why this issue should be constantly reminded and re-discussed. Also, as a comment to [1], I would like to add that maybe it would be worth considering a concept of quasi-spherical polarization, too?

Abstract This article discusses mutual interactions phenomena especially in the case of Transverse ElectroMagnetic (TEM) cell applications as an exposure system in technical and biomedical studies. Problem of mutual interactions between tested objects placed in the electromagnetic field (EMF) is described. A new device for exposure system is presented. Its role is elimination of mentioned harmful phenomenon that leads to falsifications of results.

Abstract One of the most interesting questions in bioelectromagnetics is why there is a difference between results of experiments performed in various labs in “identical” conditions. One of the possible reasons is the difference of investigated objects, especially while performing experiments in vivo. However, the authors, as engineers, would like to focus readers’ attention on the technical aspects of exposure systems, especially the presence and role of mutual interaction between biological objects under test (OUT) and the exposure system, the interactions between the objects, the role of polarization, the similarity of real exposure to that applied in experiments etc. All these factors may alter the results of experiments and lead to false conclusions.

Taking into account reflection influences of conducting medium in vicinity of human body, cylinder model and corresponding equivalent circuits are proposed for human body impedance calculation, and simulation results are provided. Analysis is provided for the features of cylinder model and potential biomedical engineering application of the model.
