An Update on Tunneled Pleural Catheters

Recurrent pleural effusions of both malignant and benign etiologies cause significant dyspnea and decreased quality of life for patients who are frequently near the end of life. Tunneled pleural catheters allow for outpatient management of these effusions. In this article, we review the current literature regarding the effectiveness and complications associated with tunneled pleural catheter use in benign and malignant conditions.

Myths and Legends: Does Needle Size Affect the Diagnostic Yield and Accuracy of Ebus-tbna?

Endobronchial ultrasound-transbronchial needle aspiration sampling during bronchoscopy is a commonly performed procedure that can assist during diagnosis and staging of lung cancer. Different needle size options exist and little has been published comparing the yields of the various options. We review the available literature to evaluate the myth that bigger is better.
