A disclination is a lattice defect analogous to a dislocation. It is characterized by a closure failure of rotation rather than of displAccment for a closed circuit round the disclination centre. The rotation failure Δ Φ equals a symmetry angle of the lattice. The displAccment failure Δ u depends on the starting point of the circuit and increases proportional to the distance from the centre.
