Tertiary trisomics of pearl millet (Pennisetum americanum (L.) K. Schum): its cytomorphology, fertility and transmission.

U. P. Singh; R. Sai Kumar; R. M. Singh; R. B. Singh

SummaryNineteen tertiary trisomics were isolated from some translocation heterozygotes and interchange trisomics of pearl millet. Cytological analysis of these trisomics indicates that chromosome association of trivalents, univalents and pentavalents were frequent in all the trisomics. But their ratio varied from one trisomic to the next. Other associations were relatively infrequent. The relative frequencies of 6 pentavalent configurations observed in different trisomics were studied and their probable association with mode of fertility and transmission rates have been discussed.

Objective: The objective of the study was to conduct a review of the existing literature on homoeopathic research conducted on Vitiligo. Materials and Methods: A comprehensive online and manual search of research studies on vitiligo through Homoeopathy was conducted to identify publications in international search databases and library of Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy published during the period from 2006 to 2016. Relevant research was categorised by study type and appraised according to study design with their clinical outcomes. Results: In this review, 11 articles related to Homoeopathy on vitiligo were identified, of which four clinical observational studies and three case reports were assessed. Conclusion: Studies identify a positive role of Homoeopathy in vitiligo were repigmentation has been reported. The treatment, however, is prolonged and needs to be based on homoeopathic principles of totality and individualized treatment. Further, a larger number of studies on convincing evidence-based parameters including validated scales are essential requirements to document the usefulness of Homoeopathy in vitiligo.

Learning from the past: Review of the central council for research in Homoeopathy Quarterly Bulletin 2002 (volume 24) and 2003 (volume 25)

AuthoR’s note We are what we remember. If we lose our memory, we lose our identity, and our identity is the accumulation of our experiences. By following our stream of consciousness, we look for lost time and things past. Some reminiscences become anchor points that can take another scope with the wisdom of hindsight. Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy Quarterly Bulletin (CCRH), Volume 24 and 25 supports in anchoring of the past vital information and disseminate it for the present.

Background: Alcohol dependence is a common social problem which may be associated with other risk factors and co-morbidities. Abrupt cessation of alcohol intake may provoke an acute alcohol withdrawal phase with varying degrees of signs and symptoms. In conventional medical system, specific pharmacological interventions are used for management of Acute Alcohol Withdrawal (AAW). There exists a need to explore safe and holistic treatment of AAW. The present work reports the results of a prospective, observational, exploratory, multicentre trial (2008-2011) to assess the role of Homoeopathy in AAW. Materials and Methods: Individualised Homoeopathy was given to 112 patients reporting with AAW. The clinical assessment was done for 05 days using Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment Scale of Alcohol-Revised (CIWA-Ar). Post-withdrawal phase, quality of life of patients was assessed at end of 01 st , 03 rd and 06 th month using World Health Organisation quality of life (WHOQOL)- BREF. Results and Analysis: There was a significant decrease in CIWA-Ar mean scores and increase in quality of life score ( P Arsenicum album, Lycopodium clavatum, Belladonna, Nux vomica and Pulsatilla . Conclusion: The results of current observational pilot study suggest the promising use of Homoeopathy in the management of acute alcohol withdrawal. Further studies with large sample size and rigorous design are warranted.
