Abstract The purpose of this study is to analyze the dynamics of total output of Japanese creative industry sectors caused by final demand changes. This study employs input – output analysis as a tool of analysis. The results show that the patterns of total output of creative industry sectors of Japan on future period are not identic. Nevertheless, those sectors have one similarity, namely the modification of import will decrease their total output on future period.

Abstract In this paper, we investigate the efficiency level of government expenditure per capita in health and education sectors and transfers and subsidies in 81 countries towards the human development in the respective countries by using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) approach during 2006-2010. We found there are countries that always be positioned in the efficient frontier during the sample period, namely: Armenia, Australia, Bangladesh, Chile, Georgia, Japan, Korea Republic, Lao PDR, Madagascar, Niger, Norway, Philippines, Sierra Leone, Singapore, US, and Zambia. Nevertheless, only Singapore and Zambia succeed to maintain positive improvements among countries that are listed in the efficient frontiers.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the role that information and communication technology (ICT) has played in changes of Japanese industrial structure; this analysis will be conducted by statistical analysis on input-output (IO) tables. In this study, we focus on ICT capital stock as the key driver, where ICT capital stock comprises computers (including computer accessories) and telecommunications equipment available during 1985 to 2005. Constrained multivariate regression (CMR) modeling is employed for analysis. A likelihood ratio test (LRT) is used for evaluating the statistical significance of model. At the macro level, this study analyzes the results of LRT calculations; at the micro level, this study analyzes the changes of IO coefficients. LRT calculation results confirms that the explanatory variables (computers, main parts and accessories; telecommunications equipment) induced structural changes in most (jointly, in all) Japanese industrial sectors from 1985 through 2005. The CMR model results show that the impact of these explanatory variables on the IO coefficients differed by sector. These differing effects reveal that internal factors in industrial sectors are more complex than macro-level factors and that further investigation is needed to clarify the discovered micro-level differences.

The purpose of this study is to analyse the influences of information and communication technology (ICT) on the structural changes of Japanese energy sectors from 1985-2005. In this study, ICT is represented by two explanatory variables, namely: 1) computers, main parts and accessories; 2) telecommunications equipment. We employ a statistical tool in investigating the influences quantitatively, namely constrained multivariate regression (CMR) model. Likelihood ratio test (LRT) method is applied in order to test the statistical significance of estimators in the fitted model. In this study, we focus on: 1) coal mining, crude petroleum, and natural gas; 2) petroleum refinery products; 3) coal products sectors. We then conduct the deeper analysis, the microscopic analysis, for each analysed sector. The results show that the explanatory variables gave the significant influences on the structural changes of analysed sectors during the period of the analysis. Besides, the results also describe that, in microscopic investigation, ICT instruments had a strong influence on the relationship between analysed and other sectors during 1985-2005.
