Electromechanical Active Body Control

Electronic suspension control systems have been established on the market for some years already and thus improved ride comfort and dynamics. Most of the active systems for body control or active roll stabilisation systems use hydraulic actuators. In this context, the high energy demand and assembly costs for the system components have proven disadvantageous. ZF and Volkswagen Group Research have investigated whether such disadvantages can be avoided by using active suspension control systems based on electromechanical actuators.

Elektronische Fahrwerksysteme sind seit einigen Jahren im Markt etabliert und verbessern Fahrkomfort und -dynamik. Aktive Systeme zur Aufbaukontrolle oder Wankstabilisierung verwenden fast ausschlieslich hydraulische Stellglieder. Nachteilig sind hierbei der hohe Energieverbrauch und die Montagekosten fur die Systemkomponenten. ZF und die Volkswagenkonzernforschung haben untersucht, ob diese Nachteile bei einer aktiven Fahrwerksregelung mit einem elektromechanischen Stellglied vermieden werden konnen.
