The GREEF portable holographic camera and its practical use

The GREEF portable holographic camera has been created for recording transmissive-type 30×40-cm holograms. A solid-state pulsed neodymium glass laser that generates radiation in the visible region (λ=526 nm) with energy 1 J and pulse width 30 ns is used in the camera as a coherent light source. The fact that the optical elements of the pulsed laser and the setup for shaping the object and reference beams are combined in one housing and the use of removable diffusers and original optical systems allowed the size and weight of the camera to be reduced. The camera is intended for recording holographic portraits of people and for obtaining holographic replicas of representatives of flora and fauna, museum exhibits, and other objects, including those recorded under conditions of off-site imaging.

Generation of images in a cavity by spatial gain modulation

To obtain images, pump radiation is projected onto a thin layer of laser medium through a spatial light modulator. The lasing conditions for such a laser are analyzed, and it is shown that it is possible to generate gray-scale images.

A new principle of the projection display based on a laser with the conjugate resonator is offered where one of the mirrors is a spatial light modulator (SLM). Intra-cavity reading of the image created on the SLM provides the oscillation of an optical signal as well a generated image with high luminosity and optical resolution.
