This is a methodological research, which aimed to determine the validity of an educational technology (ET) in the form of educational game of medicine administration, according to the judges and audience, using the theoretical stage of Pasquali model. Data were collected between September 2011 and May 2012 in two stages: 1) application and validation of TE by forty students of the 4th period of Nursing, at the Fluminense Federal University (target audience); 2) observation and validation of TE by 8 teachers (judges). The questionnaires were organized in Likert scale, with items distributed in blocks and analyzed quantitatively. The game was validated, since it has over 80% approval by the two groups, and may therefore be used as a TE in the discipline of Fundamentals of Nursing. The results were positive, demonstrating that students and teachers are more interested in content taught when most dynamic technologies are used in the classroom.

Nathália Aparecida Costa Guedes Miranda; Lina Márcia Miguéis Berardinelli; Vera Maria Sabóia; Irma Brito; Rosângela da Silva Santos

Objectives: to analyze the integrated community therapy model for the empowerment of people living with fibromyalgia and discuss the impact of this interdisciplinary intervention in the health-disease process and self-care. Method: a participatory-approach qualitative study, developed in 2015 with 11 participants at the Laboratory of Physiology Applied to Physical Education of the Rio de Janeiro State University, RJ. Data production comprised World Cafe, participant observation and semi-structured interview. The analysis was performed according to Bardin, through data triangulation in dialogue with the relevant literature. Results: the integrated community therapy group is a driving force in building and expanding knowledge about fibromyalgia and in self-care empowerment. Conclusion: this group strategy proved to be an interdisciplinary praxis tool that enables the development of solidary care networks. Thus, shared knowledge was generated, transformed into a listening and reflection environment to manage personal and family obstacles. Objectives: to analyze the integrated community therapy model for the empowerment of people living with fibromyalgia and discuss the impact of this interdisciplinary intervention in the health-disease process and self-care. Thinking about participatory health research (PHR) in Portuguese-speaking countries implies diversity and specifically cultural diversity. Four years after the chapter’s co-authors were integrated into the International Collaboration for Participatory Health Research (ICPHR) network, they decided to reflect on how PHR is emerging in Portuguese-speaking countries. Participatory research builds on co-created knowledge by doing research with people not on them, so it becomes challenging to reflect on the singularities of PHR among Portuguese-speaking projects due to cultural diversity. This chapter presents the reflexive synthesis of nine PHR projects developed in Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, and Portugal using comparative analysis. PHR coordinators were invited to co-author this chapter with the purpose of synthesizing and comparing (i) research design and validity, (ii) participation, and (iii) impact of research and dissemination. The projects were focused on topics such as “partygoer” college and university students, young people living in violent communities, people living with chronic diseases, women without access to cervical cancer screening, and primary health-care practices. These projects revealed PHR “good practices” and the potential to support social change through person-/community-centered services and greater responsiveness/inclusion in the health-care system. The barrier between scientific and lay knowledge must be overcome so that proposals can emphasize the impact of powerlessness in people’s daily lives.

OBJECTIVE to assess the impact of protocol home visits on the functional capacity of adult and elderly patients with venous ulcers, before and after guidance received at home. METHOD clinical experimental, randomized, nonblinded and controlled study, developed with 32 patients (case and control groups). Fields of research were the Wound Outpatient Care Unit of the Antônio Pedro University Hospital and households of patients treated in the outpatient unit. Data collection occurred from February to June 2014, by means of an assessment tool of the health care unit, the TINETTI index and a script for directions to be provided to study participants who received home visits. RESULTS participants in the case group showed significant and differentiated improvement post-intervention when compared to the control group, which remained stable. CONCLUSION directions provided in the home context were beneficial to the members of the case group.

Interdisciplinarity: cornerstone of education on healthcare – a social research

Maria Ângela Prates Puppin; Vera Maria Sabóia

This project addresses interdisciplinary pedagogy and its implementation in the Collective Health Nursing Residency Program, Fluminense Federal University. Some decades ago, curricular reform movements in health mainly took place in Latin America, with the aim of overcoming the prevalent and traditional guidelines, as supported by specialisms and by individualized and content-focused teaching practice. The study objectives are: to describe the development of care provided by resident nurses, in terms of interdisciplinarity; to examine whether interdisciplinarity has been encouraged during their training and; to discuss with teachers and residents the construction and implementation of interdisciplinarity in professional practice. Methodology: This is a qualitative research project in which we adopted a descriptive approach that is set in the Service Training Units. The instruments of data collection are semi-structured interviews and free participative observation. Thematic analysis will be used to construct analytical categories, contextualizing the problem in the light of the work of scholars such as Minayo, Japiassu, Ceccim and Fazenda
