Vehicle Navigation and Information Systems in Europe - An Overview

Traffic information through FM broadcasting stations is a well-established driver information medium in Europe. Ongoing developments will result in an automatic and digitized information service that will interact with in-vehicle driver information systems. European research programs on route guidance systems, automatic traffic detection means as well as existing vehicle navigation systems are going to converge towards an integrated system approach for efficient traffic management.
