Methodological aspects of Decision Support System for the location of renewable energy sources

Jaroslaw Watróbski; Paweł Ziemba; Waldemar Wolski

The aim of this article is to present the methodological framework for Decision Support System for the process of selecting the location of renewable energy sources. For this purpose, the paper presents the methodology and MCDA methods sequentially structuralizing and modeling the decision space and exploiting the developed model. The detailed area of research and verification of proposed approach are related to the problem of offshore wind farm localization. Proposed framework defines input information together with methodological background required for decision support processes.

Integration of domain ontologies in the repository of website evaluation methods

Paweł Ziemba; Jarosław Jankowski; Jaroslaw Watróbski; Waldemar Wolski; Jarosław Becker

Many methods can be used for the evaluation of website quality. While they can be used for different purposes and require different assessment approaches it is not easy to select proper method adequate to the needs. Presented research is focused on building a repository of knowledge about the methods for the assessing the quality of website. The repository in the form of ontologies covers various methods of quality assessment and makes possible their proper selection. Proposed approach was verified with main methods and the resulting ontology can act as a repository of domain knowledge.

Paweł Ziemba; Jarosław Wątróbski; Jarosław Jankowski; Waldemar Wolski

Many methods can be employed to evaluate the quality of websites. Although the methods can be used for different purposes and require various assessment approaches it is challenging to select a proper method adequate to the needs. The research presented in the article is focused on building a repository of knowledge about the methods for assessing the quality of a website. The repository in the form of ontologies covers a variety of quality assessment methods and makes their proper selection possible. The proposed approach was verified with major methods and the resulting ontology may act as a repository of domain knowledge.

A Cellular Automaton Based System for Traffic Analyses on the Roundabout

Krzysztof Małecki; Jarosław Wątróbski; Waldemar Wolski

The paper presents an analysis of the impact of road conditions, the distance between vehicles and the number of pedestrians on the roundabout capacity. The study was based on a developed cellular automaton (CA) model and the implemented simulation system. The developed CA model extends the basic traffic model with a braking mechanism. It also reflects the actual technical conditions of vehicles (acceleration and braking depending on the dimensions and functions of the vehicle, as well as the driving at a roundabout of different speeds that are appropriate for the size of the vehicle). The study was based on the example of a two-lane roundabout with four two-lane inlet roads.

The Use of a Fuzzy Cognitive Maps and Eye Tracking in Exploitation of Online Advertising Resources

Jarosław Jankowski; Jarosław Wątróbski; Katarzyna Witkowska; Waldemar Wolski

Current trends in the area of digital marketing and online promotion indicate the increasing role of highly targeted online advertising. The method of designing advertisements evolved in the direction of one-to-one communication, which forces to create personalized advertising messages. In the case of interactive media modelling changes can occur in a dynamic way based on audience and content characteristics. The purpose of this article is to develop a model supporting the selection of parameters and localization of advertising content with the use of fuzzy cognitive maps and possibility to perform simulations based on content selection towards increased efficiency.

Hierarchical Representation of Website Evaluation Model Using Survey and Perceptual Based Criteria

Jarosław Wątróbski; Artur Karczmarczyk; Jarosław Jankowski; Paweł Ziemba; Waldemar Wolski

The high availability of e-commerce websites which deliver similar services and products, as well as the harsh rivalry between competitors, increased the importance of systematic evaluation of the e-commerce websites’ quality, usability and user experience. Multiple methodologies for performing the evaluation are available, however, they are based mainly on survey data. In our previous research, we introduced perceptual measurements from eye tracker (ET) to the set of evaluation criteria. In this paper, we present an approach based on AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) to allow a thorough analysis of the complex structure of criteria and its impact on the final evaluation. Additionally, we combine the AHP outputs with the COMET (Characteristic Objects METhod) technique to build a fuzzy rule base that provides a stable model of the entire domain of evaluation criteria. The results of the conducted empirical verification of the proposed approach are presented and discussed. The main research findings show that the rankings obtained with the presented approach are very stable and the probability of a rank reversal phenomenon is low.

MCDA-based decision support system for sustainable management - RES case study

Jaroslaw Watróbski; Paweł Ziemba; Waldemar Wolski

The MCDA methods are used in order to solve complex decision-making problems which require considering many interrelated criteria. They are also the basis of DSS. Nevertheless, these dependencies between criteria can have an influence on the obtained solution. A class of decision-making problems, in which there are intercriteria dependencies, are decisions in the sustainability area, e.g. selection of a location and a design of an RES-based power station. The article presents a complex model, taking into consideration dependencies between criteria.

Using PEQUAL Methodology in Auction Platforms Evaluation Process

Jarosław Wątróbski; Paweł Ziemba; Jarosław Jankowski; Waldemar Wolski

Together with the growth of e-commerce sector, companies are focusing more and more attention on website quality evaluations. Evolution along with an ever-growing set of available methods are being observed for online shopping platforms, as well as auctions, and it is creating better representations of various characteristics and parameters. The following article presents a usability study of auction websites based on the PEQUAL methodology. The used method is based on the extended version of classical EQUAL method with taken into account different aspects of preference modelling and aggregation derived from Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA). Presented empirical verification has been conducted out for top auction websites and results show significant practical possibilities of analysis of obtained results.
