The universality evaluation standard system of product design on basis of Kansei Engineering and virtual reality constructed in this paper will effectively solve the current practical problems of product design evaluation to the greatest degree. The reasons why people are usually at a loss when conducting product design evaluation are that, on the one hand they do not know what kind of method or means is able to achieve the goal of scientific evaluation, and on the other hand whether there is or what kind of method and model among hundreds of product design evaluation methods and models can deal with the design evaluation problem of this product. This paper aims to carry out in-depth research from the following four aspects. (1) Systemically combing the product design evaluation research results which include Kansei engineering, virtual reality, and cross-over research results of product design evaluation. (2) Scientifically summarizing the construction elements of product design universality evaluation standard system. (3) Scientifically refining construction factor and correlation factor, and extracting universality standard construction factor through researches on comparison of construction factor and correlation factor. (4) Setting priority standard through researches on the reasonable and matched priority relation of various standard construction factors, and finally constructing a product design universality evaluation standard system on basis of Kansei Engineering and virtual reality.

Study on "Intuitive Semantics" of Orient Traditional Creation Wisdom Contained in the Design of Modern Mechanical Products

Wangqun Xiao; Jianxin Cheng; Junnan Ye; Le Xi

The traditional mechanical products have been considered to be structured products all the time. The concept of “priority to function” dominates the design philosophy in the long term, but it unilaterally stresses “technique” and “performance” of the “product” but overlooks “emotion” and “care” of “human”, thus making the relationship between “human” and “product” “disharmonious” and violating the original intention of human for creation. Then this requires us to think deeply. In the aspect of things perception in China, starting from characters invention by Cang Jie, there were cultural heritages being good at abstraction including “intuitive realization”, “sudden enlightenment” and “empathizing and understanding” since ancient times. The six methods of character creation reflect the “intuitive semantics” or the information referred to as “intuitive semiology” formed very early in Chinese culture. The theoretical achievements of domestic and overseas mechanical product design are presented and analyzed firstly in this essay; and then starting with the study on Chinese traditional creation culture and practical activities, the orient traditional creation wisdom that contains substantial thinking and elements related to “intuitive semantics” will be researched; finally, the “intuitive semantics” will be infused into design of modern mechanical products to think and study and survey the relationship between human emotion and technical principles, thus perfecting the innovation theory of modern mechanical product design.

Junnan Ye; Jianxin Cheng; Wangqun Xiao; Le Xi; Fei Xie; Yanjie Hu

Li3VO4 is considered to be one of the most promising anode materials for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) because of its outstanding safety performance and energy density. In this manuscript, hollow and spherical Li3VO4/crumpled reduced graphene oxide (LVO/CRGO) nanocomposites were formed by one-step and continuous spray pyrolysis with no need for further treatment. In this high-temperature gas phase process, the precursors of Li and V undergo a rapid chemical reaction, resulting in LVO nanoparticles anchored on the surface of graphene oxide. At the same time, the graphene oxide flakes are crumpled and reduced due to the droplet evaporation and a high-temperature reducing atmosphere in the reaction zone. The special three-dimensional (3D) architecture constructed by RGO sheets is beneficial for electrochemical performance owing to its preferable mechanical strength and superior electrical conductivity. When used as an anode, the LVO/CRGO nanocomposite exhibits extraordinary cycling and rate performance. It delivers an outstanding specific capacity of 487.5 mA h g−1 at 0.2C with less than 2% decay over 100 cycles. After 80 cycles at various specific currents from 0.1 to 60C, as the rate returned to 0.1C, the 5th specific capacity returns to 452.4 mA h g−1. Meanwhile, compared with general multiple-step methods, the one-step continuous spray pyrolysis method offers a facile, efficient and high-yielding alternative, which is meaningful and has potential in synthesizing other CRGO-based anode materials for LIBs.

Nowadays, a new technological and industrial revolution is under gestation and the labor division as well as competition division is re-shaping. Meanwhile, the industrial robot has become the one contested by all high-end equipment field throughout the world. How to introduce emotion design into the robot will inevitably become a power weapon for robots shinning out in competition. Human beings have emotional appeals, and the emotional effect ignited based on product functional structure, material form, user aesthetic sense as well as experience, and the cross-over study among user emotional appeals, psychology, physiology and design will become front topics in the industrial design research field. No matter perceptual engineering or emotional design, they are mainly responsible for the scientific recognition and adoption of ambiguous perceptual or emotional factors appeared in the course of creation, which aim to try the utmost to solve the emotional problems via scientific approaches, and change the situation that people cannot scientifically as well as accurately deal with emotional problems based on the experience and feeling of designers. So, the primary problem to solve emotional recognition is how to scientifically and effectively construct the perceptual intention space of products. This paper carries out scientific research on the special filed industrial robot based on the research of constructing perceptual intention space, trying unremitt8ing efforts to know the most scientific and effective perceptual intention space. The model construction includes vocabulary acquisition, selection and establishment to determine the key elements of users and experts. The main task of perceptual vocabulary acquisition is to widely collect the perceptual intention of industrial robot purchasers and users and personal interview as well as questionnaire is adopted; the selection stage is to carry out hierarchical clustering and simplification of the vulgar, similar and opposite words and the KJ is adopted; the establishment stage is to refine and determine perceptual words based on experts counseling and refinement experiment (the experiment approach is to integrate the online questionnaire and field investigation), which cannot only help to have a good knowledge of the emotional appeals, perceptual intention vocabularies recognized by users but also make up for the inner voice of users. To conclude, this paper innovatively comes up with the idea of perceptual intention space construction model of industrial robots based on ‘users and experts’ appealing.

Le Xi; Jianxin Cheng; Junnan Ye; Wangqun Xiao

The appearance design of products is a complicated issue that concerns multiple factors relating to materials, structures, functions, colors, etc. Product modeling is an important medium for the communication between designers and clients. It is also an effective way to satisfy user’s emotional experience. In terms of products’ appearance modeling, designers have always been dedicated to the creation based on their own experience, inspirations and techniques. Due to the lack of effective evaluation system, it is difficult to deal with user’s emotional experience accurately and effectively.

Using Eye Tracking Technology to Evaluate New Chinese Furniture Material Design

Junnan Ye; Jianxin Cheng; Le Xi; Wangqun Xiao

With the rapid economic growth in China, Chinese style furniture has revived quietly and “new Chinese furniture” that accords with the demand of the time has also been generated. Not only it is an inheritance of Chinese long-standing history and culture, but also it complies with the international trend. Material is an important design element in new Chinese furniture. With our scientific and technological progress, the methods and means of design have been continuously improving and updating, and the modes of design appraisal have been emerging endlessly. However, few research is on the design appraisal of materials used in new Chinese furniture. Eye-tracking technology takes users’ eye movement as the basis of measurement and appraisal, which is relatively more suitable for the inspection of the visibility, characteristic meaning and interface layout of exterior elements. Thus, it can provide product development with objective, comparable and quantitative standards of measurement.
