This paper takes Shenzhen Fustian comprehensive transportation junction as the case, and makes use of continuous multiple real-time dynamic traffic information to carry out monitoring and analysis on spatial and temporal distribution of passenger flow under different means of transportation and service capacity of junction from multi-dimensional space-time perspectives such as different period and special period. Virtual reality geographic information system is employed to present the forecasting result.

Abstract With several characteristics, such as large scale, diverse predictability and timeliness, the city traffic data falls in the range of definition of Big Data. A Virtual Reality GIS based traffic analysis and visualization system is proposed as a promising and inspiring approach to manage and develop traffic big data. In addition to the basic GIS interaction functions, the proposed system also includes some intelligent visual analysis and forecasting functions. The passenger flow forecasting algorithm is introduced in detail.

The proposed platform supports the integrated VRGIS functions including 3D spatial analysis functions, 3D visualization for spatial process and serves for 3D globe and digital city. The 3D analysis and visualization of the concerned city massive information are conducted in the platform. The amount of information that can be visualized with this platform is overwhelming, and the GIS-based navigational scheme allows to have great flexibility to access the different available data sources.

Abstract With the rapid development of 3D Digital City, the focus of research has shifted from 3D city modeling and geo-database construction to 3D geo-database service and maintenance. The frequent modifications on geometry, texture, attribute, and topology present a great challenge to the 3D geo-database updating. This article proposes an event-driven spatiotemporal database model (ESDM) that combines the historical and present 3D city models with the semantic classification and state expression, triggered by changing events predefined. In addition, a corresponding dynamic updating method based on adaptive matching algorithm is presented to perform the dynamic updating operation for the complex 3D city models automatically, according to the compound matching of semantics, attributes, and spatial locations. Finally, the validity and feasibility of the proposed ESDM and its updating method are demonstrated through a 3D geo-database with more than 1.5 million 3D city models.

Abstract Using a 3D geographical information system (GIS) and cloud computing, a new government affairs service platform is presented. To manage and use the city’s data efficiently, the 3D analysis and visualization of the city’s information are held on the platform of the smart city. With the new platform, a series of e-government services can be conducted to manage the makers and operation supervisors in the government agencies and other smart city industries, such as urban disaster and environmental protection, intelligent transportation, monitoring and evaluation of the urban resource centers. All services presented on the platform are extracted from the government departments’ practical demand.

City traffic data has several characteristics, such as large scale, diverse, predictable, and real-time, which falls in the range of definition of big data. This paper proposed a cloud service platform, that targets wise transportation in order to carry out unified management and mining analysis of the huge number of the multivariate and heterogeneous dynamic transportation information, provides real-time transportation information, increases the utilization efficiency of transportation, promotes transportation management and service level of travel information, and provides decision support of transportation management by virtual reality as visual.
