Reduktion störender Lenkmomente

Wolfgang David; Marc Simon; Lauri Mikael Ohra-aho

Suspension of the Ford focus RS 500

Marc Simon; Thomas Gerhards; Wolfgang David

For sporty automobiles the trend is cognizable that high-powered vehicles use a front-wheel drive. After presenting the front axle concept RevoKnuckle first in the year 2004, Ford improves this principle for the current Ford RS 500 in the generation II. The optimisation allows not only reduced lever arms but also largely retention of the otherwise excellent properties of the McPherson front axle from standard production.

Less torque steer effect

Wolfgang David; Marc Simon; Lauri Mikael Ohra-aho

The increasing power output of front wheel drive vehicles means that the so-called “torque steer effect” is becoming increasingly obvious to the driver. Although sophisticated suspension concepts that can reduce the negative effects exist, they introduce additional links or control arms and are usually not considered in the B and C-class vehicle segment, as they are expensive and require significant body modifications. The front suspension concept called “Revo Knuckle” reduces steering disturbances and can be implemented in a common body platform with a McPherson-type suspension.

Das Fahrwerk des Ford Focus RS 500

Marc Simon; Thomas Gerhards; Wolfgang David
