and reaches maximum at the distance z. The maximum velocities were applied to our previous experimental data which were measured by Faraday cups. The spectral line profile was assumed Gaussian and the He a spectral line width as a flash lamp was measured by a PET crystal spectrograph. In Fig. 3, thus calculated photo-pumping efficiencies for each accelerating distance z and experimental result are shown. The best agreement with the experimentally observed profile was obtained for z = 300 pm. This value was equal to 2 to 3 times of the laser-spot diameters.
