The methodology for collaborative development of intelligent wearable Meta-Products

Mohammed Taha Elhariri Essamlali; Aicha Sekhari; Abdelaziz Bouras; Salinee Santiteerakul; Yacine Ouzrout

Meta-Product (MP) is a new evolution of product that involves with network of services, products, people, and environment. From an industrial point of view, this evolution shifts from a material multiplication to an information generated by human actions. Meta-Products require more complex elements than generic products and need the involvement of multidisciplinary team (garment designers, sensor networks designers and application developers). Therefore, a new product development methodology that improves network collaboration is required. The main objective of this work is to propose a new methodology for the collaborative development of intelligent wearable Meta-Products. The proposed methodology contributes for a clear understanding about the steps to be used during the design and development of new Meta-Products.

Weaving Trending, Costing and Recommendations Using Big Data Analytic: An Enterprise Capability Evaluator

Muhammad Naeem; Néjib Moalla; Yacine Ouzrout; Abdelaziz Bouras

In the life cycle of a business organization, unprecedented turmoil and turbulent timings are inevitable. This ever green truth is not only an advice but a motivation for every organization to be dynamic in its business plans. In other words, “one size fits all” strategy is short lived and seasonal for any enterprise. We in this study have proposed a dynamic platform capable of handling the challenges which are geared towards conventional stagnant business strategies in commercial world. The technical specification of the proposed platform is based on modern business intelligence tools and techniques. The study is dedicated towards exploration of investigating the Big Data capabilities to develop a platform delivering costing, sourcing and tendering capabilities for industrial parts. While doing so, we have emphasised challenging questions of interoperability in the design paradigm of inundation of structured and semi-structured data.

Abstract This chapter presents the comparative analysis of the various tools and applications in terms of energy-efficiency. Due to increasing demand of Green technology it is very challenging to minimize the energy consumption of software and hardware components. In addition, the use of applications or software on our computers consumes energy and it also affects the energy drain of several hardware components and system resources. Consequently, running web browsers, media players, file transfer protocols, wired and wireless security protocol applications will utilize the considerable amount of energy. In this remarkable research, we have run different types of experiments which contain the use of several measuring tools. Firstly, joulemeter and powertop (pTop) are used to monitor and calculate the energy drain of hardware and software while running web-based and stand-alone applications with Windows 7 and Linux (i.e. Ubuntu 16.04) operating systems on desktop and laptop computers. Secondly, it is presented that how much energy is consumed by an ordinary citizen on typical things of everyday use on the web.

Abstract This chapter gives an innovative research for streaming of video over the Internet of Multimedia Things (IoMT) – an enrichment to the Internet of Things (IoT). Its primary goal is to support video streaming as a part of the implementation of IoT with Telemedicine and medical quality of service (m-QoS) optimization. The IoT enabled systems cannot be successful if the idea of pervasive connectivity of everything is unable to include ‘multimedia objects’. This problem is analyzed and focused by envisioning the concept of IoT and depicting a motivation concerning the vision of IoMT. Moreover, this chapter proposes three novel algorithms namely, Modified Lazy Video Transmission Algorithm (MLVTA), Online Video Transmission Algorithm (OVTA) and Rate Control Video Transmission Algorithm (RCVTA) for applications such as, Tele-monitoring, Tele-vision news casts and Tele-surgery by considering video streams of pre-recorded (i.e., stored), online and high-definition (HD) videos respectively, through work ahead transmission to optimize m-QoS in terms of standard deviation throughput, peak-to-mean ratio, jitter, average jitter, delay, and average delay over IoMT network.

Rapid proliferation in the medical wearable device market has become the center of attention and changed the every corner of the medical world for the effective and economical information transmission, but because of the tiny size and high power drain more battery charge is consumed, so to remedy that problem this paper proposes ON-OFF Battery Friendly Algorithm (OBFA) to minimize the energy drain and hence to enhance the battery lifetime of these portable devices. Patient’s bio-signals such as, electrocardiogram (ECG) data from World’s larger database, i.e., PhysioNet is taken and examined with our proposed OBFA for further transmission over joint IoT and Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs). Experimental platform reveals that battery charge consumption is reduced and lifetime is improved in comparison with traditional baseline scheme.

MKMSIS: A Multi-agent Knowledge Management System for Industrial Sustainability

Virgilio López-Morales; Yacine Ouzrout; Thitiya Manakitsirisuthi; Abdelaziz Bouras

Industrial Sustainability in most companies face several problems when a firm tries to promote a greener image while focusing on maintaining profitability in a long-term approach. This is a necessary strategic approach, as customers are becoming more committed to buying products that consider environmental concerns and additional regulations need to be followed. However, traditional marketing and distribution methods, management tools and the homogenization of requirements fail to fully integrate the implication of environmental regulations into their processes. In this scenario, a system for supporting the integration of environmental concerns, endogenous and exogenous regulations, and market trends would be very well received. This is a complex task to be realized by just one system, even when a firm’s various departments have an efficient networked communication system. A Distributed Decision Making System (DDMS) could be a useful approach. This paper introduces a multi agent network for collaborative knowledge management. Since regulations and environmental issues are at the core of those processes and influence the final products, several sustainability phases can be addressed within this network, from the design to the marketing and distribution stages. The aim of our system is to deal with the management of these different phases in a collaborative platform by considering the sustainability knowledge related to several regulations.

Ontology-Based Approach for Semantic Service Selection in Business Process Re-Engineering

Sophea Chhun; Néjib Moalla; Yacine Ouzrout

This research aims to provide the possibility to the business analysts to be able to know whether their design business processes are feasible or not. In order to solve this problem, we proposed a model called BPMNSemAuto that makes use of the existing services stored in the service registry UDDI (Universal Description Discovery and Integration). From the data extracted from the UDDI, the WSDL files and the tracking data of service execution on the server, a Web Service Ontology (WSOnto) is generated to store all the existing services. The BPMNSemAuto model takes an input of business process design specifications, and it generates an executable business process as an output. It provides an interface for business analysts to specify the description of each service task of the design business process. For each service task, the business analysts specify the task objective (keywords), inputs, outputs and weights of the Quality of Service (QoS) properties. From the design business process with the service task specifications, a Business Process Ontology (BPOnto) is generated. A service selection algorithm performs the mapping between the instances of the WSOnto and the BPOnto to obtain possible mappings between these two ontologies. The obtained mappings help the model to acquire web services to execute the desired service tasks. Moreover, the consistency checking of the inputs of the proposed model is performed before executing the service selection algorithm. WordNet is used to solve the synonym problems and at the same time a keyword extraction method is presented in this paper.
