Available Transfer Capability calculation based on contingencyselection

Available Transfer Capability (ATC) is an important index for determining power delivery contracts and managing transmission congestion. In power markets, large amount of uncertainties and dynamic, continuous and time-varying features of power systems have great impacts on ATC. In this paper a novel method is proposed to select the uncertainty faults affected ATC greatly, then the calculation time can be saved and efficiency can be improved without effect the compute accuracy. Different generator output adjustment mode is also considered when calculating ATC. When getting the possible states based on the contingency selection, to each specific state the repeated linear iteration based on sensitivity analysis is used to calculate ATC. The algorithm based on MATLAB 6.5 is developed. IEEE 14-bus test system is used to verify the presented approach.
