Automatic Pseudo-invariant Feature Extraction for the Relative Radiometric Normalization of Hyperion Hyperspectral Images

Dae Sung Kim; Mu Wook Pyeon; Yang Dam Eo; Young Gi Byun; Yong Il Kim

A new relative radiometric normalization approach is presented based on the spectral profile shape of hyperspectral data. We calculate the spectral similarity value of pixels at the same location using spectral angle mapping. The cumulative moving average and its differential values are used to determine the appropriate number of pseudo-invariant features automatically. Band-by-band linear regression of the pseudo-invariant features is used to refine the radiometric normalization results iteratively. We tested the algorithm using six Hyperion data subset images. The proposed method yielded stable results with similar or better performance than other methods for all test sites, when assessed by visual inspection and quantitative analysis.

Image simulation from multitemporal landsat images

Hien Phu La; Yang Dam Eo; Soo Bong Lee; Wan Yong Park; Jee Hee Koo

Multitemporal datasets can provide information on the different acquisition patterns of pixel values. The resultant generation of simulated images based on these patterns becomes practical and easy. In this paper, we propose a simple model for creating a simulated image based on a set of multitemporal satellite images and meteorological data utilizing a temporal correlation of multitemporal images. The satellite images and meteorological data used for the model can be easily accessed through open data sources. A dataset of 55 Landsat images was used to determine the relationship between the spectral radiance of the pixels and solar radiation, air temperature, humidity, rainfall, and visibility based on a multilinear regression analysis. This multilinear regression equation was then used to generate the simulated images obtained on the target dates. The results indicate that more than 91% of the pixels of the simulated images have correlation coefficients greater than 0.98 in all experimental cases. The correlation coefficients increased significantly when the normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) and a reference image were applied to the man-made areas. The quality of the simulated images generated by this model primarily depends on changes in land cover. However, this effect can be reduced using NDVI interpolated from images obtained during the same season, or by employing a reference image acquired close to the date on which the simulated image is generated.

Myoungjin Kim; Hanku Lee; Mu-Wook Pyeon; Yang Dam Eo; Dongkeun Lee; Wonsa Lee

In the real world it is very difficult to implement real-time models in uncontrolled distributed environments and to support well-defined interfaces from real-time systems to external systems. An ongoing project for ubiquitous computing environments, u-GIS based informative construction technology innovation project needs a system to handle and control various data (sensor data, visual data, equipment status data, etc.) generated from remotely distributed construction sites in real time. The main purpose of this paper is to study how to support real-time applications, to design TMO-based distributed real-time processing techniques for real industrial applications, and to develop a TMO-based real-time model with less strict real-time constraints in ubiquitous environments. We propose an easy-to-use TMO-based real-time model with less strict real-time constraints for u-GIS based informative construction technology innovation project.

Stereo-mate generation of high-resolution satellite imagery using a parallel projection model

Synthesis methods to create a stereo-mate of satellite imagery from an orthophoto have been developed in many previous studies. If these methods are applied in an urban area where there are many adjacent tall buildings, stereo viewing is inhibited by occlusion in the orthophoto and its stereo-mate. In high-resolution satellite imagery, the in-track view angle of the image is usually far from vertical; consequently, the occluded area near tall structures occupies a large area, and this severely affects stereo viewing. This study proposes a different approach to creating stereo-mates for high-resolution satellite imagery by projection of the digital surface model (DSM) draped by the original single image onto a fictitious satellite sensor model. The main benefit of this method is enhanced stereo viewing by arranging the fictitious sensor model to reduce occlusion area. The physical sensor model of the original image is previously derived by parallel projection model, and then the stereo-mate fictitious sensor model is determined from the physical sensor model.

Nam-Gi Kang; Jae-Sun Park; Tae-Min Hong; Yang Dam Eo; Byoungkil Lee; Mu-Wook Pyeon

This paper focuses on the development of AP (Access Points) allocation simulation programs intended to enable deployment of RTLS (Real Time Location System) in construction sites. This study aims to develop a simulation program that specifies the minimum number of APs (Access Points) and optimizes their locations. AP is a critical element in location-tracking systems in construction sites in reference to acquired 3D spatial data of structures under construction using terrestrial LiDAR, state-of-the-art field surveying technique. Achievement made herein will provide a platform for real-time monitoring system in construction sites that tracks locations of various construction resources (equipment, material, labor, etc.) and contributes to the improvement of efficiency and safety in construction projects.

A Study of Proof-Based, E-Document Distribution Service System

Seong Pil Kong; Sang Boem Lim; Yang Dam Eo

E-documents have been partially distributed. When it comes to the distribution of important documents such as contract and notice, however, paper or a particular system with enhanced security has only been available. This study proposes a distribution system which allows both companies and individuals to distribute e-documents in open environment through certified electronic address and circulation certificate and guarantees reliability through a trusted third party. The proposed distribution system can provide large-scale distribution services and keep them reliable. From the economic aspect, in addition, cost reduction, work efficiency and improvement of productivity are expected from individuals as well as public organizations and private companies.
