Microwave-assisted preparation of functionalized resins for combinatorial synthesis

Hao Yang; Yanqing Peng; Gonghua Song; Xuhong Qian

Abstract A series of functionalized resins were synthesized from Merrifield resin by virtue of microwave irradiation. A significant reduction in reaction time was achieved. This method provides a rapid transformation of functionalized resin in solid-phase synthesis.

Urotropine: an efficient catalyst precursor for the microwave-assisted Knoevenagel reaction

Yanqing Peng; Gonghua Song; Xu-Hong Qian

By using urotropine as a catalyst precursor, a rapid microwave-assisted Knoevenagel reaction of various active methylene compounds with aldehydes gave the corresponding olefinic products with satisfactory yields.

Magnetically recoverable nano-sized mesoporous solid acid: effective catalysts for the synthesis of 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthols

Zhixiang Cai; Chen Shu; Yanqing Peng

Magnetic mesoporous solid acid, SO3H-MCM-41@NiFe2O4, was prepared and characterized by transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, N2 adsorption–desorption, and hysteresis loop. Under optimized reaction conditions, three-component condensation of aromatic aldehydes with 2-naphthol and benzamides gave corresponding 1-amidoalkyl-2-naphthols in satisfactory to excellent yields. Catalyst could be recovered by magnetic separation and reused for new runs without significant decrease in activity.Graphical Abstract

Powdered diethylaminoethyl cellulose as biomass-derived support for phosphotungstic acid: new solid acidic catalyst for the synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones

Shaokang Li; Qianqian Zhang; Yanqing Peng

Finely powdered diethylaminoethyl cellulose is prepared through a bottom–up synthetic method using NaOH/urea aqueous solution as solvent. Phosphotungstic acid anchored on the powdered diethylaminoethyl cellulose can be used as a biopolymer-supported solid acidic catalyst for the synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4(1H)-ones from isatoic anhydride, amines, and aldehydes. The catalyst could be easily recovered by simple filtration and reused several times with minor decreases in the reaction yields.Graphical abstract

FeCl3-promoted synthesis of 1,3,4-thiadiazoles under combined microwave and ultrasound irradiation in water

Huangdi Feng; Xili Ying; Yanqing Peng; Erik V. Van der Eycken; Chuanduo Liu; Shanshan Zhao; Gonghua Song

An eco-friendly and efficient synthesis of substituted 1,3,4-thiadiazole derivatives has been developed. This aqueous heterogeneous approach proceeds smoothly and quickly under combined microwave and ultrasound irradiation in the presence of FeCl3.Graphical Abstract

Aqueous heterogeneous synthesis of polysubstituted 2,6-dicyanoanilines via combined microwave and ultrasound-assisted multicomponent reaction

Huangdi Feng; Shengjie Lin; Jiayi Wang; Gonghua Song; Yanqing Peng

Abstract A series of polysubstituted 3-aryl-2,6-dicyanoaniline derivatives were synthesized by one-pot multicomponent heterogeneous domino reaction of aromatic aldehyde, malononitrile and cyclic ketone under combined microwave and ultrasound irradiation in water. This facile approach reduces the reaction time and energy consumption and increases the yield and selectivity of the product.
