Influenza virus vaccine (IVV) is a promising research domain that is closely related to global health matters, which has been acknowledged not only by scientists and technology developers, but also by policy-makers. Meanwhile, patents encompass valuable technological information and reflect the latest technological inventions as well as the innovative capability of a nation. However, little research has examined this up-and-coming research field using patent bibliometric method. Thus, this paper (a) designs the technology classification system and search strategy for the identification of IVV; and (b) presents a longitudinal analysis of the global IVV development based on the European Patent Office (EPO) patents. Bibliometric analysis is used to rank countries, institutions, inventors and technology subfields contributing to IVV technical progress. The results show that the global trends of IVV are a multi-developing feature of variety but an uneven technical resource distribution. Although the synthetic peptide vaccine is a comparatively young field, it already demonstrates the powerful vitality and the enormous development space. With the worldwide competition increasing, all nations especially China should be looking to increase devotion, enhance capability and regard effectiveness of technological innovation.

Research on the Government Agriculture Investment Efficiency under "China's New Normal"

Xu Bai; Yun Liu; Yijie Cheng; Zhiyun Ma; Zhe Yan

This paper analyzes the current situation of Chinas government investment in agriculture under the new economic norm and uses the VAR model to estimate the equilibrium relationship between total agricultural output value, agricultural and forestry meteorological expenditure, agricultural capital construction expenditure, agricultural science and technology cost and agricultural comprehensive development fund. The results show that the investment of agricultural science and technology has an obvious effect on the total agricultural output value under the new economic norm. The conclusion will provide a reference for the formulation of relevant agricultural investment policies in China.

Yijie Cheng; Yun Liu; Wei Fan; Zhe Yan; Xuanting Ye

Nanotechnology is considered to be a key technology that has an important influence on the emergence and development of a series of high-technologies in the 21st century. Due to its multidisciplinary nature, nanotechnology requires extensive multi-sector collaborations to foster more efficient development outcomes. This paper proposed a novel triple helix model to analyse the globalization of China’s nanotechnology innovation. This analytical framework will include three main aspects: first, the independent and interactive relationship among universities, governments, and industries; second, the vertical progress of globalization; and third, some influential innovative elements throughout the process. Afterwards, we demonstrate the model via a case study on the China International Nanotech Innovation Cluster. Finally, the paper summarizes the propelling roles and active impact three main entities played in the nanotechnology globalization process, as well as the trend and challenge of globalization. Findings offer helpful implications for the triple helix innovation in other industries.

The issue of Climate change has become a corn concern of the humanity. Appropriate technology and partner identification for mitigation and adaptation to climate change is the key to South-South cooperation. There has an urgently needs for technologies in developing countries while lack of information. This paper presents a scientometric analysis of research work to establish evaluation index system of science and technology strength on climate change from two sides of scientific research and technology development through output data in the Science Citation Index Expanded database (DB SCIE) and European Patent Office Worldwide Patent Statistical Database (DB EPO) from 2003 to 2014. Then we evaluate the scientific strength of key requirements fields of developing countries and get a comprehensive grasp of the status quo distribution of world-class technology, world-class organization and world-class professional. We hope the answers can be used to comprehend the scientific research and technology development level on climate change of the worlds major countries and China, so as to provide reference for the partner selection of the technology transfer, the technology service and the technology information exchange of developing countries and to provide the theory foundation for the technology cooperation between China and the countries along the OBOR.

Yijie Cheng; Yun Liu; Xiaojie Dang; Shifeng Han; Zhenwei Zhang

Disciphnes that best reflects the current academic trends, best represents the latest research progress, and can solve the most critical scientific issues and challenges in the S&T development is academic frontiers. So, whether does international S&T cooperation promote the development of Chinese academic frontiers? Or what effects does international S&T cooperation have on Chinese basic research fields? The present paper analyzes the degree and mode of international S&T cooperation employing the emphasis papers belongs to “Top 10 News of Basic Research of China” (later renamed “Top 10 Science Advances of China”) from the perspective of disciplines from 2005 to 2014. The major findings of this study confirm that the synergistic effects of international S&T cooperation are conducive to enhance the forefront of research questions, broaden the research ideas and improve the research capacity of researchers. In addition, there are obvious positive role in promoting the development of Chinese vulnerable discipline and traditional preponderant discipline.
