The 10 Gbps-PON system with 10 G/1G coexistence capability is one of the most promised systems for next generation optical access networks. We successfully developed 10 G-EPON system for coexistence with existing 1 G-EPON ONU with 8.46 Gbps upstream throughput.

PON with Automatic Protection switching for high reliable communication

PON (Passive Optical Network) permits the economical deployment of FTTH (Fiber to the Home) networks by sharing a single optical subscriber line among multiple subscribers. Especially since 2002, the deployment of PON systems has grown rapidly. This paper introduces the current status of FTTH in Japan then proposes a redundant optical access system with APS (Automatic Protection Switching) over PON which enables PONs for FTTBus (Fiber to the Business).

Evaluation of fast wavelength switching sequence for WDM/TDM-EPON system

In this paper, a fast wavelength switching protocol to deal with the RTT drift problem in WDM/TDM-EPON system is proposed. Estimated process time revealed one sixth reduction of the switching time can be available.
