Abstract Pfaffic acid, C29H44O3, a new nortriterpene which exerts inhibitory effects on the growth of cultured tumor cells, was isolated from the roots of Pfaffia aniculata Kuntze and the structure established.

Molecular conformation of thyrotropin-releasing hormone from the X-ray structural analysis of its tartrate

An X-ray crystal study of thyrotropin-releasing hormone tartrate has revealed that its molecular structure, in contrast with predictions based on energy calculations and n.m.r. spectroscopic studies, contains an extended peptide bond stabilized by a hydrogen bond between the π-NH unit of histidine and the carbonyl oxygen of the proline amide.

The molecular structure of (E,E)-[2.4] paracyclophane-1,17-diene, a unique paracyclophane analogue, was established by an X-ray crystal structure analysis, and found to be of 2/m molecular symmetry with all benzene rings and vinylene groups perpendicular to molecular ring.
