Effects due to the Structure and Materials of a Charge Stripping Foil on Activation of the RCS Injection Segment of J-PARC

activation of the surrounding structures and that of the foil itself is the problem to be solved. The ACAT (Atomic Collision in Amorphous Target) code has been modified to calculate the angle straggling of the transmission beam by multiple collisions in the foil. The results did not show any substantial deterioration of the beam optics due to the foil. The gamma spectra measured during a shutdown period of the RCS has been analyzed to see the correlation with the beam transport in the system.
