Small target detection using cross product based on temporal profile in infrared image sequences

Tae-Wuk Bae; Byoung-Ik Kim; Young-Choon Kim; Kyu-Ik Sohng

This paper presents a new small target detection method using the cross product of the temporal pixels based on the temporal profile in infrared (IR) image sequences. The temporal characteristics of small targets and the various backgrounds are different. A new algorithm classifies target pixels and the background pixels through the hypothesis testing using the cross product of pixels on the temporal profile and predicts the temporal backgrounds based on the results. The small targets are detected by subtracting the predicted temporal background profile from the original temporal profile. For the performance comparison between the proposed algorithm and the conventional algorithms, the receiver operating characteristics (ROC) curves is computed in experiment. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm has better discrimination and a lower false alarm rate than the conventional methods.

In this paper, we implement a reticle seeker missile simulator on MATLAB-SIMULINK to analyze the jamming effect of the spin-scan and conscan reticle seeker. The DIRCM (Directed Infrared Countermeasures) system uses the pulsing flashes of infrared (IR) energy and its frequency and intensity have influence on the missile guidance system. Our simulation results show that jamming effect is indicated significantly when jammer frequency and reticle frequency are similar and present a 3D trajectory of missile motions by jamming.

A novel Two-Dimensional LMS (TDLMS) using sub-sampling mask and step-size index for small target detection

Tae-Wuk Bae; Young-Choon Kim; Sang-Ho Ahn; Kyu-Ik Sohng

In this paper, we propose a novel TDLMS filter using a sub-sampling mask and step-size index for small target detection in infra-red (IR) imagery. The concept of the proposed TDLMS is to utilize the sub-sampling mask of the weight-matrix having the structure reducing effects of the target pixels in order to predict the background exactly. And the nonlinear step size using the luminance rate (LR) and contrast rate (CR) is used and then background is predicted finally by using the two-dimensional Gaussian distance (TDGD). Experimental results show that the proposed method exhibits higher detection rates in comparison to the conventional TDLMS filter.

Mathematical morphology techniques, such as white top-hat (WTH) and new white top-hat (NWTH) transformation have been researched for small target detection application in the infrared (IR) images. However, its target enhancement performance still depends on its SE size set by users. To solve this problem, we propose a recursive multi-structuring elements (multi-SEs) NWTH method with an automatic decision mechanism of the SE size. The proposed method based on the NWTH transformation updates the multi-SEs by calculating candidate target-to-clutter ratio gain (CTCRG) of the NWTH images by the multi-SEs. Through a recursive procedure, final multi-SEs is automatically selected, and then small targets can be detected in a summation image of NWTH images by the final multi-SEs.

Sang-Ho Ahn; Young-Choon Kim; Tae-Wuk Bae; Byoung-Ik Kim; Ki-Hong Kim

The function of DIRCM (directed infrared countermeasures) jamming is to cause the missile to miss its intended target by disturbing the seeker tracking process. The DIRCM jamming uses the pulsing flashes of infrared (IR) energy and its frequency, phase and intensity have the influence on the missile guidance system. In this paper, we analyze the DIRCM jamming effect of the spin-scan reticle seeker. The simulation results show that the jamming effect is greatly influenced by frequency, phase and intensity of the jammer signal.

For removing the impulse noise with better edge and fine detail preservation, we propose an iterative bilateral weighted median (IBWM) filter. Instead of the specified weight of WM filters, we propose a novel weight fuction, bilateral weight (BW) where is the combination of domain weight (DW) in spatial domain and range weight (RW) in intensity domain. The DW is designed to give higher weight to pixels that are spatially close to a center pixel. And the RW is designed to give higher weight to pixels that are similar to the mean value of pixels in the filtering window. Finally, the rates of DW and RW are controlled according to noise distributions in a filtering window. For ensuring high accuracy of noise detection, the IBWM filter uses iterative process using increasing filtering window size. Simulation results indicate that our algorithm provides a significant improvement than any other existing techniques.

In this paper, how to stop a moment to experiment with stop function, electric brake type scale model propulsion system is designed and fabricated by control of the braking torque is proposed. Scale model system for motor-driven, inertial load, the structure of the load for the motor and the inverter system was constructed with two sets of converters, the actual range of the rotational speed of the vehicle DDM experiments to be able to. In Additional, observer to estimate the rotor position and speed of using resolver, and the pole at low speed, speed detection methods have been developed. As a result of this study, first, stop the moment Second, the reduction of braking torque, and how to initiate the operation of the air brake blending by using the braking, improve braking methods that only use the electric brake to stop brought.

Hae-Jong Joo; Young-Choon Kim; Eu-Soo Lee; Moon-Taek Cho

RFID technology uses communication through the use of radio waves to transfer data between a reader and an electronic tag attached to an object for the purpose of identification and tracking. RFID technology can be applied to the various service areas such as, position determination technology, remote processing management and information exchange between objects by collecting, storing, processing, and tracing their informations from the tag attached to the objects using electronic wave by recognizing the information and environment of those objects. However, to revitalize these various services, it is important to test the RFID tag performance. But There are few instructions which have and hold the RFID emulator technology for organizing the RFID international test environment. Also there are not many manufacturing companies which recognize about the exact RFID test standard and requirements for the International Standards. In this paper, a construction of Tag Performance test environments and test methods are suggested which are required by EPCglobal or ISO/IEC. Details about RFID Tag performance test items proposed by ISO/IEC FDIS 18046-3 are explained, performed RFID Tag performance test through the performing test against each measured item, and draw a result for the RFID Tag performance of International Standards.

Young-Choon Kim; Moon-Taek Cho; Hae-Jong Joo

Abstract In this paper, using the adaptive sliding mode observer for speed sensorless vector control is proposed.. Adaptive sliding mode observer of the motor stator coordinate system using the voltage equations of the rotor flux components are observed. Motor speed was obtained by the Lyapunov function is estimated by the relationship further. In order to establish such a control scheme based on the way conventional PI controller and sliding mode observer annexing characteristics of the system through simulation and experiment were compared. According to analysis by comparison with the usefulness of the system was confirmed. This paper focuses on the opinion information extraction and analysis system through Web mining that is based on statistics collected from Web contents. That is, users` opinion information which is scattered across several websites can be automatically analyzed and extracted. The system provides the opinion information search service that enables users to search for real-time positive and negative opinions and check their statistics. Also, users can do real-time search and monitoring about other opinion information by putting keywords in the system. Proposing technique proved that the actual performance is excellent by comparison experiment with other techniques. Performance evaluation of function extracting positive/negative opinion information, the performance evaluation applying dynamic window technique and tokenizer technique for multilingual information retrieval, and the performance evaluation of technique extracting exact multilingual phonetic translation are carried out. The experiment with typical movie review sentence and Wikipedia experiment data as object as that applying example is carried out and the result is analyzed.
