P2P Network Simulation System for Performance Evaluation in Convergence Networks

Yu-Doo Kim; Il-Young Moon

P2P(peer to Peer) network is a distributed network architecture composed of participants that make a portion of their resources directly available to other network participants, without the need for a central server. Currently, convergence network industry using wired and mobile are grows rapidly. So P2P protocols will be used between mobile and wired network. But current P2P protocols are focused on the wired networks only and there are no simulators for performance analysis of mobile P2P. In this paper, we design a P2P simulation system for performance analysis of P2P protocols in mobile, wired and convergence networks. It is constructed by a well-known mobile network simulator and wired based P2P protocol simulator. Finally we have implemented a smart TV test-bed using our P2P test-bed for convergence networks.

Design and Implementation of Super-peer P2P Overlay Network Protocol and System for mobile IPTV

Yu-Doo Kim; Il-Young Moon

Recent researches of network structure are moving to high-level networks because there are already many research results of low-level network. Especially, current network services has been changed to the multimedia service using multicast routing such as IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) service. And then previous multicast services were provider oriented. So previous multicast structures were organized server/client model. But future multicast services will make user oriented services. Therefore there will be many service providers in the future. At this point, we study P2P network for supporting multi provider. So we research load balancing and contents lookup protocols in P2P network. In this paper, we propose network protocol and system based on super peer P2P for load balancing and efficiently service search. And we considered mobile environment for mobile IPTV.

Web Based CDN Structure for Smart Devices

Yu-Doo Kim; Il-Young Moon

The rapid growth of telecommunication technology has led to the development of many smart devices. In particular, the smartphone market has been growing rapidly following the development of third-generation telecommunication technology. As a result, most people are expected to use a smartphone within a few years. Furthermore, the market for smart devices such as tablets and smart TVs are growing rapidly. Therefore, most people are expected to own various smart devices within a few years. However, current Contents Delivery Network (CDN) network systems are focused on a desktop PC platform, which can be problematic for smart devices. In this paper, we analyze the performance of Web browsing speed in smart mobile devices. Through this results, we propose web based CDN network structure.

Web Based File Transmission System for Delivery of E-Training Contents

Yu-Doo Kim; Mohan Kim; Il-Young Moon

The rapid growth of telecommunication technology has led to the development of many smart devices. In particular, the smartphone market has been growing rapidly following the development of third-generation telecommunication technology. As a result, most people are expected to use a smartphone within a few years. Furthermore, the market for smart devices such as tablets and smart TVs are growing rapidly. Therefore, most people are expected to own various smart devices within a few years. Especially, education systems using smart devices will very useful. So we are implementing a car mechanics e-training system using smart devices. But it is not support real time contents updating. In this paper, we implement web based file transmission system for delivery of e-training contents.

A Study on Contents Lookup Protocol on P2P Multiple Overlay Network for Mobile IPTV Service

Yu-Doo Kim; Il-Young Moon

IPTV services are rapidly growth because trends of TV(television) services are changed that provide interactive service. Therefore current customers who are provided IPTV services are growth. But current IPTV services are not provided various and special services than traditional TV services. Because that, it is provided based on wired network. So future IPTV will develop wireless-based services. However wireless environment can’t estimate location of each node. Then it is difficult that search node and contents. At this point, we study contents lookup protocol for future mobile IPTV services based on P2P multiple overlay networks.

Analysis and Comparison of Multicast Routing Protocols for Mobile IPTV

Yu-Doo Kim; Il-Young Moon

Recently, Many people are using IPTV(Internet Protocol Television) services because it provide various contents when they want. And it can send a real-time request to the service provider. So we can utilize various services in IPTV such as shopping, banking, SMS(Short Message Service), education, etc. But recent IPTV services are provided in the home only because it use wired network. Therefore future IPTV will be changed mobile IPTV using mobile network technology. If the mobile IPTV is commercialized, we will enjoy the various IPTV services anytime and anywhere because it can communicate in various heterogeneous networks. But recent throughput of mobile network technology is not enough. So we need analysis the various multicast routing protocols. In this paper, we analyze existing multicast routing protocols of mobile network and compare it for mobile IPTV.

Performance Analysis of TCP over Wireless Network Using Error Model

Yu-Doo Kim; Il-Young Moon; Heau-Jo Kang

TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is one of the protocols which are widely used from the Internet environments. Through the flow control of TCP, it could be increased efficiency for the loss and a retransmission of data and the flow control become accomplished though window technique which puts the limit of size. By the flow control, TCP divided in various versions. In this paper, it is analyzed the simulation result which applies the error model over wireless network in the Newreno which is an improved model of the representative Tahoe, Reno.
