Peroxynitrite can nitrate tyrosine residues of proteins. We examined nitrotyrosine‐containing proteins in cerebrospinal fluid of 66 patients with neurogenic disease by immunoblot analysis. Nitrated tyrosine residue–containing protein was observed in the cerebrospinal fluid and was concluded to be manganese superoxide dismutase (Mn‐SOD). The nitrated Mn‐SOD level was strikingly elevated in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients and was slightly increased in Alzheimers and Parkinsons disease patients, whereas an elevated Mn‐SOD level was observed only in progressive supranuclear palsy group. A retrospective analysis of 40 total knee arthroplasties was performed on cases with a mean 2-year follow up. Axiom total knee prosthesis was used in all cases. At 2 years, the JOA score in OA cases (27 joints) improved from 47 points preoperatively to 79 points postoperatively. RA cases (13 joints) improved from 47 points to 77 points. The mean range of motion for the series went from 93° preoperatively to 107° postoperatively.Radiolucent lines, 2mm or greater in width, were not noted in radiographs.Short-term results were good.

The purpose of this paper was to describe the therapeutic effect of nerve root infiltration for lumbar disc herniation. 108 patients diagnosed as lumbar disc herniation, who underwent nerve root infiltration, were divided into two groups, conservative and operative groups. The results were as follows.1) We can expect the good therapeutic effect of nerve root infiltration for older patients who are slightly possitive in SLR test.2) We can predict the therapeutic effect at the time of 24 hours after the 1st nerve root infiltratioln.
