espanolLa presente investigacion forma parte del procedimiento de adaptacion de un instrumento para evaluar el estres academico en el contexto angolano con estudiantes de la carrera de la medicina de la Universidad “Onze de novembro” Cabinda, Angola. Se realizo un estudio piloto como procedimiento inicial de las directrices para la traduccion y adaptacion de los tests establecidos por la Comision Internacional de Tests (ITC). La muestra estuvo conformada por 42 estudiantes de los diferentes anos academicos mediante un muestreo probabilistico. Entre los principales resultados se destaca la adaptacion linguistica y cultural del instrumento. Se comprueban las manifestaciones de estres academico en los estudiantes investigados lo cual avala la relevancia del constructo en el contexto estudiado, observandose algunas diferencias asociadas al genero, la edad y el ano academico. Se identifican las situaciones estresantes que predominan, los sintomas y las estrategias de afrontamiento mas frecuentes. EnglishThe present research work is part of the adapting procedure of an instrument to evaluate the academic stress in the Angolan contest with students from the Medicine career from the ´´Onze de novembro´´University Cabinda, Angola. A pilot study was carried out as an initial procedure from the directives for the translation and adaptation of tests established by the International Test Commission. The sample was established by 42 students from different academic years by means of probabilistic sampling. Among the main results the linguistic and cultural adaptation of the instrument is highlighted. The manifestations of academic stress in the students investigated are verified which warrant the relevance of the results in the studied context. Some differences associated to genre, age and academic year are observed. The stressing situations that predominate are identified, as well as the symptoms and most frequent confronting strategies.

The article presents results of research aimed at investigating the academic stress in college students. Starting from the thesis of conceiving college as context for education, training and health, it addresses the college academic stress as a major health problem that requires attention in the educational policies of these institutions. The theoretical considerations that arise are based on empirical evidence. The predominant stressful situations are the overload of extra classes tasks and independent work, evaluations and the type of work that teachers ask , class participation and limited time to do the work that teachers ask. Among the symptoms experienced in this situation, the prevailing symptoms in the psychological order are the anxiety and the concentration problems, in the physical order are the headaches and migraine, the drowsiness or the increased need for sleep, and in the behavioral order is the reluctance to perform school work.
